WEDNESDAY 6th AUGUST 2008
TIPEC SCOTLAND MINUTES
Apologies were received from Stewart Gordon (on annual leave) and Alan Neilson (work commitments).
Neil Fraser opened the meeting and firstly welcomed Steve Taylor and family who had meet up with us for the Gaydon weekend. A big thank you to all that attended the Gaydon weekend a round trip of approx 750 miles and 16 cars and 27 managed the trip. A special mention was given for the 3 concourse winners; Peter Weston for 1st place visitors choice, 2nd place for Kevin Tocher and Graham Morrison 2nd place competitors choice. Well done to those and Scotland proudly took home 3 out of 5 trophies.!!!!!!! It was mentioned between members that the annual show was a very enjoyable day and a big thank you to all that help organize the event but we could not help notice a little bit of a bland show in respect of family entertainment etc and regional gazebos were lacking, however possible suggestions at the T.I.P.E.C AGM next year and we will bring the subject up at the turn of the year once again.
The next item was this weekends(10th August) Boness Hill Climb it will be hosted by Alan Neilson, the meet details will be 0815 meet 0830 depart at the Brewers Fayre, Cadgers Brae, Beancross Rd, Polmont, Falkirk Fk2. There will be no gazebo present so catering will be at your own discretion. Anyone still wishing to go please contact Alan on 07793234096. more info at http://www.bonesshillclimb.org.uk/index.html

The Chaterherault Show will be on the 17th of August and the meet details for this one will be at Strathclyde park (toby car park area just off the main roundabout) it will be a 0900 meet for 0915 depart, plenty spaces left for this one so please contact Neil on 07946616782 for anyone still wishing to go and the gazebo will be present and tea/coffee and cold items will be available from our catering staff only as BBQs are not permitted at this show.
The AutoClassica show is a 2 day event for us on the 23rd and 24th of August and names have been taken for both days, the fee is £6 for the both days and the Saturday will be street concourse and the Sunday will be the main concourse event .Names and cars for the Saturday concourse have been submitted. This show is a real gem folks with mounds of entertainment for all the family even in the evening on the Saturday and for further info please visit http://www.culzeanautoclassica.com/7.html Camping is available at the show site for those wishing to stay over on the Saturday and you must be in by 1030am at the very latest, failing to do so will result in you being put in the visitors car park. The Sunday will be the Scottish TIPEC region concourse so have them cleaned guys and dolls. Brian Miller German Specialists of Edinburgh will again be sponsoring the TIPEC concourse and a big thanks to Brian for that. Neil Fraser will sponsor the new visitor’s choice Trophy and this will be voted by the public and members may vote but not for there own car!! There will be the member of the year and best improved car of the year Trophies also up for grabs so 6 Trophies in total to be had folks. The meet place for this event will be on the A77/A78 Dutch House Roundabout at Monkton at the premier hotel car park 0800 SHARP 0815 DEPART BOTH DAYS! Alan Neilson and Stewart Gordon will host the Saturday and all 3 RO’s will be present for the Sunday. THIS WILL BE A GREAT EVENT GUYS AND DOLLS NOT TO BE MISSED!!!!!!!!!!!!!.
September hosts the Ireland trip and anyone still wishing to go please contact James McLaughlin on 07974104432 spaces still available for anyone wishing to go and at present there are 9 cars in total booked for this trip so far. Thanks James so far for your efforts on this trip, I am looking forward to it I have to say!!!

Also in September 21st we have the Selkirk Classic car show and this is a very good and turned out show folks spaces available and it will be £2 per car this year names to Neil on 07946616782 for those wishing to go.

Finally just to remind everyone that this was our last meeting here at The King Robert Hotel and as from September we will be meeting at the The Bo-Ness Motor Museum, Bridgeness Road, Bo-Ness,EH51 9JR.

It was great to see you all at Gaydon, pleased you enjoyed the show.

Not sure what we do for more family entertainment, with free 4x4 rides, bouncy castle, cinema, kids playground and go karts not to mention a museum full of 250 exhibits an interactive section plus colouring room.

Without being critical, because I thought it was actually very good but an idea may be to probably have a kid zone where all the stuff is roughly in one area and it being well advertised and signed on the day.

I wasnt aware of some of that stuff being there.

There is definately more we can do with the programme, assuming people read it.

A kids zone would be difficult as it is all spread out across the site.

I can see that things could be done to boost the overall appeal of the day to everyone.
I wouldn't say improve because I thought it was extremely good for a new venue and unpredictable audience.

I, for one, am hoping to attend the AGM and other possible meetings to help things along for next year.

Nice to meet Tony and Jen while they were on the parking duty. Hope they enjoy their week down south.

That's true, I didn't actually open my programme!

A map in the programme would probably suffice then

I bet a lot of people didn't read the programme on the day but had a noses when they got home.

Possibly PDF the map and send it out in a club email a week or so before the event.

That would:
Remind people the show was on
Indicate specific areas such as regional parking, childrens entertainment
Food areas.
Enable a bit of forward planning for the day?

Just an idea

We can do all that no problem at all, if you read the ads we ran in All Torque everything we were doing is mentioned but people don't read it.

The biggest issue we have is people don't read what we send out, I must have had 10+ calls and emails in July August from club members asking where do they buy tickets etc.

It's on the day that really counts, 80% of the people attending aren't club members. There's more we can do and we'll come up with a way of getting it across.

Also a prominant notice board near the entrance with a large labelled plan of the site - not difficult.
Past Show guides had maps - helps a lot.

thats ok if you can get to the venue to measure up and plan it out. sean told us on sat that the heritage center stated the strips of green was 20 meters when they was only 15 so he's plans to horseshoe the trade stands went to pot on the day.

but all in all it worked well.

Aha .. no substitute for measuring up for yourself. I can understand trader layout going awry if you are 5m out.
I've aerial photos and copies of the original Architect's drawings if thats of any help.

I agree - the trader, OPC and Concours area around the entrance worked superbly. It had a real buzz about it, unlike past events where these activities were too scattered.

I'm glad we measured out and pegged on Saturday rather than risk it on Sunday or it would have been a nightmare.

It all turned out rather well on the day given the number we had.
