TIPEC SCOTLAND MINUTES
A big warm welcome to everyone who attended this very special evening, there were 21 Porsches and 32 bodies tonight ranging from a very rare 1973 2.7 R.S 911 to a 997 GT3 . This evening was opened up to non members due to the very special barn find 1968/69 Porsche Prototype 911( A ONE OFF CAR IN THE WORLD) to which Brendan and Mike delivered a very special presentation on it’s find and story from when it left Porsche until it’s present day status. Please keep us up to date with it’s restoration status and a follow up presentation. Not to forget we were treated to a very rare 2.7 RS 911 1973. A big thank you guys for such a treat it had me totally focused from start to finish and also a big thank you to the PCGB guys who attended this evening. I hope you enjoyed your evening with us at TIPEC we did enjoy your presence there this evening for what was a very special evening in terms of entertainment for the Porsche enthusiast.
A big hello also to new member Graeme Smith the proud owner of a 1998 Primrose yellow Boxster. Graeme I am sorry if I called it Pastel Yellow I am glad you corrected me on that one. Very nice car and a very warm welcome to TIPEC.
I spoke very briefly on the new Tipec Logo branding etc the club recently decided on a freshen up and more contemporary look to the logo etc. I did forward via email the link to order new clothing etc to all on email. Those who are not on email please contact me direct via phone and ill have a copy for you sent via post for your attention.
Many thanks to you who attended the Porsche Car Clinic day at SP AUTOBAHN( independent Porsche Specialist) in Stirling. Hosted by Stuart Paterson (owner). This was a day whereby various models of all years of Porsche’s went on the ramps and Stuart in depth talked on each model in great detail regarding what to look out for when purchasing and servicing your Porsche. The feedback from this day was fantastic and we thank Stuart for his hospitality on the day and details of what Stuart and SP AUTOBAHN offer you the Porsche owner can be found below. Another big thank you for all those who attended the Glasgow Transport Museum recently another excellent turnout and Brian Woods 356 certainly took spotlight on the day and had many admirers it has to be said. The new museum was excellent and the weather was also kind to us so a big thanks to everyone once again.
We discussed the up and coming diary of events for May and June and this Sunday (6th May) we will be at the museum of rural life in East Kilbride classic car show and we will be meeting at the B & Q car park at approx 0900 depart 0930 hrs for the museum. A couple of spaces left for this show so if you wish to go contact me ASAP.
The next show will be on the 20th May at the Bridge of Allan classic car show hosted by Stirling Classic Car club. We will be meeting at Stirling service for about 0900/ 0930 depart for the show and always a good show in terms of variety and look forward to the day. Anyone wishing to go again contact myself ASAP.
The annual TIPEC SHOW at Hatton Country World will be on the 27th of May (Sunday) We will be travelling down on the Friday 25th May meeting at Abington Services for 1030am depart at 1100am. Those who are travelling down at a different time or date please inform Alan or myself so we know who we are waiting on etc at Abington. A good attendance this year for the show folk’s 10 cars 20 bodies so looking forward to the weekend away as I always do and in good company also. Alan Neilson will be taking you from Abington Services I will be travelling down after work on the Friday afternoon. I will be leaving Edinburgh on the Friday at approx 1500hrs ( flexible) anyone wishing to travel down with myself please email or phone me to make arrangements.
June 10th will be the Thirlstaine Classic Car Show at Lauder (Scottish Borders) A huge show folk’s with over 1500 vehicles off all varieties and a good selection of auto jumble also. We will be meeting at Stration Retail Park for 0830/ 0850 depart for the show. Straiton Retail Park is just off the Edinburgh City Bypass and those coming down the Bypass it is sign posted and we will be situated outside Halfords at the Retail Park car park. Once again anyone wishing to attend please contact myself.
