WEDNESDAY 7th March 2012
TIPEC SCOTLAND MINUTES
Neil Fraser and Alan Neilson welcomed all to tonight’s meeting, a massive 36 bodies and 4porkers in the car park. Most of the Porker’s tucked up from the cold and salty roads still but I am sure they will come out to play very soon. An Excellent turn out to tonight’s meet. Many thanks to those of you who made the long trip to tonight’s very special meeting with regard to Stewart Gordon’s farewell surprise presentation.
Now first up on this evening’s agenda was the diary of events for the Scottish region for 2012 . Alan and I have delivered a diary of events that were suggested by you the members in the winter meet suggestion forms. A very varied diary this year and something there for everyone I would like to think. We have a range from a technical Porsche car clinic event to a ten pin bowling night and much more. We have listed the diary of events on a separate sheet for all to view and they can be found on the
http://www.tipec.net site under groupe north and Scottish Region home page also on the Scottish region website
http://www.tipecscotland.co.cc . I will post also on a group e-mail to all those on e-mail the diary of events also. So no excuse in respect of you don’t know what is going on and if you’re not sure just e-mail or phone and bloody well ask!!!
The nearest event on the diary will be on Saturday 14th April and that is a Porsche Car Clinic event.(what is that I hear you say????) Well ill tell you, it will be a 10am to 2pm event and it will consist of various Porsche models on the workshop ramp and Stuart Paterson a Porsche Specialist from SP AUTOBAHN in Stirling will speak for approx 30 minutes per car on what to look out for such as common faults etc etc cost of servicing and he will also answer any technical questions you may want to ask regarding you car. There will be complementary tea and coffee and even a few chocky bikkis thrown in for good measure. We have a range of cars going from water cooled to air cooled and even a 996 turbo also. Many thanks for those who have put there name and car down and if you wish to come along then just let Alan or I know and we will add you to the list, it is that simple!! This event is free to all TIPEC members.
The next event on the region’s diary will be the on Sunday the 22nd of April and that will be a visit to the new waterfront Glasgow Transport Museum. We are currently talking with the museum in order to reserve car park spaces at the museum in order that we can park as a group, final meeting times will be to follow in due course. Again the museum is a free event and something there for everyone from bus spotters (like me) to super cars etc. A family day out and something the kids will even enjoy (if mum doesn’t want to come she can stay at home and cook the roast beef for later).
Please remember the TIPEC national show this year is a bit earlier than has been in the past and it is on the 27th May 2012 At Hatton Country World. We will be staying at the Duncow Hotel, in Dunchurch, nr Rugby. We normally go down on the Friday and come back the Sunday or Monday. The hotel is an Innkeepers Lodge Hotel and if you book the Friday and Saturday you are eligible for the Sunday night FREE . The total cost is approx £110 for the room for the weekend and includes a continental breakfast. Please book as early as possible to avoid disappointment. All wishing to go please submit your names to Alan or myself we have a few going down already and always proves to be a nice weekend away amongst friends. The show is on the Sunday as always and please look up on google the Hatton Country world site to see what’s on offer a nice wee village next to the show ground and boost’s a garden centre, arts and craft shops, souvenir shops, kids massive play area, luxury ice cream parlour and many eating outlets plus much more.
Now ladies and gent’s, boys and girls tonight we in secret rallied round and gathered as many of the members together as possible and a total of 36 turned up this evening for a very special evening presentation for Stewart Gordon. Stewart as you all know had served the region as RO for over 13 very constructive and successful years and decided at the end of 2011 that he would stand down as RO early in 2012 to which he did so at the February meeting. As we all gathered at tonight’s meeting Stewart made comments to me how many were at tonight’s meeting and for a brief moment I thought he was developing a bit of a complex with regard at the number of people that were attending and him not being the RO lol (you stupid bugger Stewart is was a gathering for your surprise presentation) Elaine Whitelaw and Teresa Mclauchlan presented Stewart with a rather unique photo album that consisted of over 200 pictures of Stewart past and present performing his role as RO Scotland also an engraved tanker to commemorate his time as our leader of the Scottish region. A nice cake with his famous registration number A944 JEM was also presented and I managed to get a bit and very nice it was to mmmm yummy, yummy. All I can say Stewart is it was a very well deserved evening and very fitting end to your reign as RO for Scotland. Now don’t be to sad as Stewart will still be a member and I believe when he has sold his 944s2 a wee 944 project will be yet again!! And a new 944 will be reborn and doting around the Bellshill area of Glasgow. Please keep us up to date Stewart with that one, won’t you!!.
