Dave Watson, our ARO, is trying to get an early indication of who might be interested in participating in our bi-annual trip to the Le Mans Classic in 2014. He will be making ticket arrangements as normal later in the year, however if we want the choice of a reasonably priced hotel rather than a campsite, we need to be thinking of making hotel bookings quite soon before rooms disappear. The event takes place 4th-6th July 2014 and it is likely that we will travel across a couple of days early to allow us to see the practice sessions and pre-race parades. If you are thinking of joining us on the trip please can you let Dave know your contact details or PM myself and I will forward them . Le Mans Classic 2012 cost us under £100 each for the weekend's tickets (3 day event, with pit passes, grandstand seats, entry and parking). To that you need to add hotel/camping cost, ferry, fuel and incidentals. So we will not be talking huge costs.

Paul & I are interested but when we investigated the hotel osts were massive. So if you can get sensible costs then we're in.

Jim, email Dave Watson or give him a ring on 07889 804598. I never went in 2012 but I'm sure he'll be able to give you a rough guide as to how much it's going to cost all in.

The Club are running a trip to Classic and Loire Valley.

Good luck with hotels, we secured 10 rooms and got a great deal.

It may be worth giving whoever is organising the club trip Dave's contact details. They may just be able to help each other out.

Just got an update email from Dave...........

As a follow up to my recent emails on LMC14 arrangements, I have had three or four people express interest but nobody else step forward so far. For those that are keen to join us on the trip I am looking into hotels within sensible distance of Le Mans and have just heard that Brittany Ferries have started taking bookings for crossings. Consequently I will wait until just after the weekend and look to start making provisional arrangements.

The event dates are 4th-6th July with the likelihood that we would travel south on the Wednesday, across France on the Thursday and spend Friday, Saturday and Sunday at the circuit. Return journey would likely involve heading back Sunday night with a stop over in France and back in the UK by Monday evening. Consequently I am looking at 2nd-7th July for the trip, stretching to the 8th if you want a more leisurely return.

Please shout if you haven't already expressed interest and are serious about coming along.

Regards
Dave Watson

Cheshire & Staffs ARO.

Sean, do you know if whoever is organising the club event got in touch with Dave?

I have already organised the Club trip and secured the rooms at Mulsanne :) We are going by Chunnel, we may split the tour and have a price purely for Le Mans without the Loire Valley. I beleive we have already sold 50% of the spaces.

What we are doing is well publicised in All Torque, if Dave wants to discuss his ideas then surely he needs to give me a call.

What frustrates me is that the Club is asked to put on events, which we gladly pull together. The regions then go and do something similar which splits participation and creates confusion. :banghead:

The trackday being a perfect example.

Steady on Sean, the two plans are very different. Dave is organising a 5 day trip costing a fair bit less than the £725 8 day trip you are organising. However I thought it would have been nice for everyone to maybe get together at some point over the 3 day event.

I didn't realise it was you organising the club event, I will speak to Dave about getting in touch.

Exactly my point, we need to join up what we are doing. Hopefully with Sue in the Communications role we can tidy this sort of thing up. :)
