August 2013 Scottish monthly
Meeting minutes.
Again this month the weather is looking good and a 9 Porsche and 16 bodies turn out for tonight’s meeting, many still on holiday of course.
First on this evening’s agenda is this coming Sunday (11th August) Hollow Mountain Visit. A separate email has been circulated regarding this day and a separate attachment with these monthly minutes explains the day in question. Anyone wishing to go then contact James McLauchlan on the email address below. Many thanks James for looking into this one and getting all the info.
Last Sunday we hosted the annual BBQ and Concours day at Boness Motor Museum and after having to reschedule from the week prior due to the inclement weather we had a fantastic day out with plenty of food and drink and silverware handed out and around 35 bodies 17 Porkers I counted turned up on the day and the Sun and blue sky did come out for us. A big thank you to everyone who came along and I am sorry if I did not have the time to chat to everyone although most I did get round as I was slaving over the BBQ as you would have seen. Also a big thank you to James and Martin and Alan for the judging of the Concours some very stiff competition this year it has to be said and only half points separating places. Well done to all the winners and runners up etc listed below are those winners etc
1st Place Street Concours; Martin Whitelaw (944 S2 Cabby)
2nd Place Street Concours: Craig Younger (997 911)
3rd Place Street Councours: Stewart Gordon (944 S2)
Concours D’elegance Winner: James McLauchlan (964 911 Cabby)
Visitors Choice Winner: Alan Neilson (944 2.7)
Best Improved Porsche : Martin Whitelaw (944 s2 Cabby)
Member of the Year Winner: Pete Weston
Next up for discussion is Scotland’s Largest Gathering of Porsches on the 1st September at Calderglen Country Park in East Kilbride. A good few have said they are attending this day out but we still need more cars for the event which will be a great day out for all the family. (Again pls see separate attachment for this great day out) Email me if you wish to come along a fantastic venue folk’s and not to be missed.
Gaydon was next and a separate email has gone out to all attending Gaydon and the 20th Anniversary Celebration weekend. Folks we have 22 bodies and 11 cars going down to this weekend and the email I sent you has full details on the BBQ and Taxi arrangements for those wishing to go not to forget the Cream Tea run in the morning. It is still not to late to book either the BBQ or Cream Tea run but time is pressing on and myself and James McLauchlan and our other half’s have already booked the BBQ and Live entertainment at Gaydon on the Saturday Night etc. If you have not received the separate email regarding Gaydon then contact me direct and ill forward it on to you. A great weekend always Folk’s and this one looks to be very special with all that’s going on. If you fancy going and not already booked then get your finger out and join us for a great weekend.
Next month on the 22nd September we have on the diary of events the wheels and wings show at East Fortune and this years show looks a bit challenging for us in that we are only allowed 10 cars and you are not allowed to leave as an exhibitor prior to 1730 hrs which was a real sore point last year and not everyone was impressed with that scenario. So if you wish to go then please bare the above in mind and the cut of date is the 23rd of August so I need to know ASAP if you wish to go if we do not get many takers for this event we will just give it a miss and possibly have a pub run somewhere?? I need your feedback on this one ASAP.
The Christmas bash has very kindly been put together by James McLauchlan and again a separate email and attachment with these minutes explains the Christmas bash. However James does require a £20 DEPOSIT within the next 2 weeks so you can secure the room etc after this time the rooms James has provisionally booked will be released to the general public. The date for the Christmas Bash is the 14th December 2013 as per the attachment etc. Many thanks James for putting this one together and doing a wee pre visit to the venue this week yourself. Great Stuff James!!
