Post subject:  Split-rims leaking air

Anyone had any trouble with split rim wheels losing air pressure?

I have these wheels on a 996, the leak is around the rim where the bolts hold it together
Do you think this can be fixed? Or would I do better to buy new wheels?

Thanks for any advice

Technically, they're not split-rim but 2 piece wheels. The rim that supports the tyre should be airtight even without the centre section. If they're leaking, it's because they've been damaged where one of the bolts screw in or they've gone porous.

These guys can fix them.

Ah, thanks. You're quite right, these are 2 piece wheels. I called into a local specialist and he showed me similar wheels seperated. The only way these can lose air pressure is if the outer rims are damaged. When we get the tyres off, he can tell me if they are repairable

Thanks again for taking time to reply
