Just had four Toyo T1R Proxes fitted to my S2 255/40/17 & 225/45/17 finally got rid of the Pirelli P6000 from the front. £370 fitted and balanced at M&M Tyres in Middlesbrough been back here a couple of times and always does a good job for a good price. Anyway just wanted to say how good the car feels, quieter, more comfortable and obviously quicker to steer like a new PS system has been fitted. Need to bed them in before seeing how well they perform but first impressions look good. Also reset my pressures from the ones stated in my handbook 44psi rear 36psi front to 36psi all round and even better much less crashing around. I know tyre pressures are an emotive subject on this forum so I am just clarifying this is not intended as a recommendation or best practise it just seems to work for me. Mine are proxes and I have to say they needed several hundred miles to bed in. Since then they have been pretty good and I think they've lightened up the steering nicely compared to the contis I had before them. Adam |

Dont think they will wear as well as the Pirelli's or Kumo's fitted before but the car only does around 5k per year so should get a couple of years from them which is fine by me. They certainly improve the steering and comfort plus are a lot quieter than the last set of tyres, I can now hear those annoying creaks and groans a 17 year pld Porsche makes. They certainly don't seem to suffer the wallowing that the Toyo T1S suffered from due to soft tyre walls and the rim protector is a good idea. Car also seems to behave better with 36psi all round much less bone shattering than before. |

Can't speak for the Khumos (although they don't have the best rep.) but the Pirellis are a long-life tyre by comparison. However, this means they DON'T grip well at all. That was my experience with the P6000s, and one that I've seen shared by many other owners of all marques. Adam |

That PDF is bloody useful. I've been trying to find a pressure for the 18"s on my 944 s2 and they have a listing for 18"s on a 968 turbo 35psi front and 38psi rear. |

Now got around 400 miles on the new T1Rs and they are brilliant, steering light and responsive, ride noise totally transformed to quiet (for a 944) and much more comfortable. Not too sure they like wet roads, haven't really had the opportunity to test them safely but then again rear wheel drive a couple of hundred HP and a live rear axle always promote smooth rather than fast cornering at least if you don't want to test the hedges for robustness. In the dry they are great far more grip then I need and at present still look like new with no signs of wear at all, if I get 5-8K out of them I will be perfectly happy for the price and hopefully by the time they need changing the drifting community will have found some other hero to worship and the availability will be better. Even managed to fit a slightly smaller momo steering wheel without the steering becoming any heavier. Definately would recommend at least for general road use no track information but that is not my thing. |

Terribly sorry for my obvious mistake of course you are right I just got carried away with typing without thinking too much. The 944 is far to compliant a ride for a solid rear axle. I must remember to read what I have written before pressing that submit button. |

Damn useful that Michelin guide. Let me know how long they last. On my Peugeot they barely did 7k before the edges were gone! For this reason I was considering the Kumho Ecsta KU31s, Vredestein Sessentas and if the budget allows Michelin Pilot Sports. That's in 17" guise. I may consider Eagle F1s on a whim. P6000s do seem to last an eternity. |

Now covered nearly 6K miles on these and they are still performing brilliantly with very little sign of wear, no signs of uneven wear and still over 4/5mm tread left right across the tyre front and rear. I would definitely buy these again although the Kumhos I had on previously were also good, lasted ages but actually were more expensive than the Toyos or at least the price I managed to get. |
