I just wondered if anyone knows what this box does? if I can purchase or bypass it? it connects to the back of the CD player. I took the cassette player (Atlanta SQR 47) and the CD player from my old 1989 Saab 9000 Carlsson turbo. Never thought it through at the time, I just pulled them before the scrap man came  any advice welcome :)

Can't be sure but it's marked up as a power supply. With the input being from a fused +12v/earth. So l would assume it either steps up/down that voltage to the player(would normally be step down) Is there any spec plate on the player to give you a clue?

Looking on eBay they are a popular classic car fitment:

From reading the info I think you may need an amplifier in addition to the power supply?

Thanx for the info Allan :) you may well be right! The cassette has it's own amp 20+20 watt and is pretty much plug and play but I think the CD player may be 24V?!?! I tried decoding something that was on a french site and noticed 24V but dismissed it but now you brought it up it could well be the case.

I'll have to contact a vintage stereo supplier I suppose to get a full run down, I'm not too bothered as I think it's quite a bit of cutting behind the centre console to get a double din fitting (it would be pretty cool though) 8)

Looks a fantastic piece of kit, think you may need to update your front springs/shocks when installed though!
