Post subject:  1988 924s headlamp problem

hi all help please!!
my 924s has a fault on headlamps, side lamps ok(heads pop up with 5 w lamps on in pods and bumper)
then when you put heads on dip the full beam lamps in bumper come on with dip in pods the dash lamp glows half on.
putting heads to full beam has no efect but if you hold indicator arm forward you get main beam on pods.
have tried the earths and changed the relays in fuse box and lift motor, also changed the stalks(indicator and wipper) plus the main dash switch.
if you raise and lower the lamps 20/30 times sometimes it clears for a bit.
my mot is now due and need to sort it.... please help!!!!
thanks all

Does sound like an earth problem or possible a faulty dash switch might be a bad joint on the back of the switch causing the voltage to drop and not be high enough to light the lamps, or similarly the high beam stalk switch. My old 86 924S had a problem with the dash switch and when I changed it I did not get the plug on properly which caused a similar problem.

It could also be a problem with the bulb holder these can get corroded and again cause a bad contact hence lose power.

hi all again
found the problem!!
the wires feeding the headlamp ajust motor had shorted inside the loom at the point where there zip tied to the headlamp pod(nearside) no visible sign on outer skin of loom just broken and short inside loom.
not shore how this affects headlamp/driving lamps but think there is a switch in there that activates relay in fuse box only when pods fully up and feeds power to lamps?
any way one to note down if you own a 924/944 late model.
thanks again
tim
