Back in the distant past ie early 1970,s I went to what was called a standard car trial (do they still run them now?) A guy came up to me and asked what was my weight. When I told him, it was the same as his,he then asked me if I would like to be the passenger in his car for the duration of the trial. The car turned out to be a Porsche based lightweight special. It was called a Denzel, made in Austria if my memory is still correct. I have never been able to find any reference to a Porsche based kit car by the name of Denzal (if my spelling is correct)in any Porsche books. The outcome of the days car trial was that we went over a raised drain cover in some long grass and the sump was ripped off. I towed the car back to his home. I think it was in Rochdale or some other northern town. The guy had a large factory unit and had several very nice classic cars stored in his garage.......any info on the Denzel car would be interesting.....Thanks |

Denzel German Denzel (Wien) manufactured their special body for Volkswagen chassis in about '53-'57. Hi Dave Thanks for the information and for the links. I guess it was another special builder who finally went the way of most of them and bit the dust due to only a few sales and un-economically low production runs. Regards Don |

Your welcome There must have been hundreds of special builders in the 50's and only a few will have survived |
