Never heard of one leaking! Although leaving cabs out, especially mohair hooded ones is cruel as they tend to need very regular cleaning. THe TR7 certainly did. |

Todays plan is to sell the 3.2 and buy a Boxster, a hard top would b e good for winter, but I don't really have anywhere to store it during the summer |

I was always amazed how good the roof was on ours, although I only had it a year from brand new. Drove through horrendous rain in Scotland for hours on end for a few days and had it sat outside with 4" snow on it with no problems. Edited to add, you could always get a cover if it turns out that you need some protection. |

As long as you keep the hood clean using a quality car shampoo you shouldn't have any issues with it leaking. You can buy a hanging storage bag for your hardtop, I've just ordered one for the 4's. |

i have had no problem with my hood when it comes to heavy rain poor car sits on drive in all weathers, about two weeks ago we had the heaviest rainfall in 10 minutes it flooded the roads and gardens and many local roads were blocked by flooding, after the deluge i checked the car and had no sign of water entering the car. however when i have the hardtop on i do get a wet cartpet and see water onthe inside of the windows this is due to abad seal on the drivers side where the hard top and windscreen head meets lots of bits of rubber meet here and get out of shape when hard top stored may have to renew seals in near future car is now 10 years old. |

All Boxster S hoods are triple layer, early 2.5 and 2.7 hoods were single layer. there are no specific issues with any of these leaking through the fabric itself, however if you want to avoid the roof fabric being sopping wet then treat the hood with a waterproofing agent. Autoglym do a cabriolet roof cleanign and proofing kit, which is OK. Better protection can be had with Scotchguard heavy duty waterproofing spray, available from bigger B&Q stores in the household section (green can). Washing the roof with shampoo strips the scotchguard or Autoglym off so only use water to clean the roof during regular car cleaning duties. Check the drain holes and the security of the foam drain pans under the rear 'clamshell' for blockages - any issues here results in water entering the cabin behind the seats, and a wet carpet (there is an expensive alarm ecu unit under the passenger seat !). There are also similar drian holes under the front bulkhead / battery area. |

Cheers for the 're' welcome guys. general lack of internet forums activity brought me back here to be honest, and the fact my old car is still on your front page !. Will try to pop in more often, i've not been with Tipec since the P1 split, although still a member of the other club. |
