This is absolutely beautiful. I want one, whatever the hell it turns out to be.

Video on Top Gear’s blog here

What do you reckon? My money’s on it being the test mule for an aftermarket conversion.

I like that, and you can work on the engine in the dry!

You can buy one now...... it's called a Volvo C30 - well that's what it looks like to me.

This car has turned up in preview footage from Forza 3, the next big racing game coming out for the Xbox 360. Here’s a screenshot:

Definitely the same car design, which gives a little credence to it. The Forza series of videogames always features real cars, licensed from the manufacturers.

Maybe it's got the engine at the front and is a worked over 944 series 4.

Porsche probably missed a trick not keeping up with the Z cars and lately SLK mercs

Looks like it’s a conversion by Techart. Check out the wheels on this nice, clear render—dead giveaway.

Still only gnet two seats though.
maybe room for a hot poodle over the engine?
If they had managed to add another pair I would be impressed.

Please nobody comment that a 2+2 Cayman is a 911......

It definitely looks like an aftermarket conversion. Here’s another supposed photo (not convinced this one is real either):

The noise on that image is too extreme - dead giveaway of somebody trying to cover their Photoshop tracks in a hurry.

The New York Times have reported that this was a hoax. It was cooked up by the website staff at Top Gear America as a wee bit of fun before their office was closed down.

Full story here
