hi,have any of you had problems with your convertable top? i closed my roof as normal and left the car overnight when i attempted to open the roof a couple of days later it would not work,i pulled the lever and the windows moved to there normal position but nothing else happened i pressed the switch to operate the roof still nothing and the light did not come on on the dash i checked all the related fuses and they were all ok .

i was told by a local specialist that sometimes the system can get confused and my need reseting!!! and he suggested i book the car in so he could put a test on it and advise me of his findings,in the meantime i had purchased a service manual cd from e-bay,one section covered what happened when you disconect your battery you have to rest everything mine being tiptronic meant throttle pedal, gear box and other components done this as listed and done test drive car was fine and the roof worked :D any comments?

I parked my car up for two weeks (holiday), then my roof would not work either. I was losing my temper with it, wondering what the hell was up with it - I had somewhere to go (TIPEC related), so simply had to have the roof down.

Stupid as it sounds, it was indeed entirely my fault - I hadn't quite snapped the locking lever back far enough
A few choice words to myself, and a reminder that I'll never do something so bl00dy stupid again!

I have a similar problem too. My roof will not go down although the windows lower and the indicator light is illuminated. I can hear the motor trying to work then it is as though it overheats and then stops. No movement from the roof though. The indicator light will not go off now. I removed the motor from its fixing point and the roof lowered and went back up, I re-fixed the motor in posistion and it doesent work again!!??? Anyway, I think it may be something to do with the cables coiling up inside the motor. I am gonna try and get it out and strip it down this weekend so I will post my findings soon!

Check your handbrake is pulled on, and also check that when the handbrake is on, that the handbrake light comes on, and that when its off, the handbrake light goes off.

Nearly every roof issue I have had with my current and 3 previous boxsters has been down to a handbrake switch issue.

One other thing is the roof relay, a big ish relay in the relay panel, give it a tap to see if it helps.. they have problems sometimes.
