 Post subject: automatic gear box

i have a 944 lux 2.5 auto when drove from cold selects gears really smooth when warm if you put into reverse thumps in also laboures going into 3rd when given a boot any ideas i have checked fluid levels

Did you check the fluid levels after it had been run?

Sound like 2 faults. Reverse could be the idle speed a little high or band adjustment. Labouring into third could be a sticky governor (if it is the same as a BW 35 style box). If it's never seen a fluid change then a specialist would drop the pan clean it out & adjust the bands & refill it.

Jim any idea where the Torque converter gets its oil from?

I assume that its at the front where the clutch would be?

Nope, TQ is in with the box, all there is at the back is a drive plate & starter ring. The oil for the TQ comes from the box itself.

thanks 4 that i checked levels they are ok i am having the box cleaned out and new fluid see what that does
