Post subject:  A little advice please

My good lady wants to chop in her Audi A5 cabrio for a Boxster, it has to be a tip and we don't need a 3.2 or bigger but she loves her toys, she wants Bose and sat nav

Please can you give me a short list of things to look for that could be an issue.

She is a low mileage driver her A5 has done 6500 miles in 2.5 years

Thank in advance

Some idea of budget would be good. But typically look for decent tyres preferably but not essentially N rated. Water pumps, radiators & cooling system attention recently would be good. The Tip is due a filter & fluid change at 96K but earlier would be good. In theory with newer ones service intervals are 2yrs or 20K but yearly would be better. Brakes as consumables are fairly expensive so good discs & pads bode well.
Boxsters are price sensitive to colour, trim & options more than say an Audi. Also options are expensive my 2000 3.2s Boxster was 43K when new but had 9K+ worth of options on it.

Let us know what budget you have & we can help further.

Hi.

Ok I hope to get about 22K for the Audi and would like to keep a few quid out of that for any immediate works on the Boxster.

she wont like an S or a 3.2 so I was looking at 2.7 and it must be a Tiptronic, she has the I wants as we get so many admiring glances in the 68 she wants to shift Badge......

so In effect I think im looking for advise on

2.7 tip
she wants Nav and Bose, Bluetooth and just about any other extra I can find, think im looking for the holy grail.

colour prefs I guess Black, Dark Blue, Viola Pearl, Silver but not red or yellow or green possibly Oak Green she would need to see one up close first.

so you think brakes, rads, history, tyres the normal stuff, what about IMS or Bores do they come into it on a 2.7?

Thanks

For that money you should just be able to get a 2.9pdk (2009 onwards) - which I'd strongly recommend over a tiptronic. At that age there are no IMS (or borescoring - an earlier 3.4 problem). I'm no expert but you'll find lots (ad nauseum) advice on the PistonHeads on things to look for.
