Ok, so maybe they're not the exact words she used, but the green light is almost there. I've got an Audi S5 that is my daily drive and a Porsche 944S2 cab for sunny days. I do a combined mileage of 8,000 to 10,000 miles a year, but mainly on my own - and that's the point. We always use her tractor (BMW520D Touring) when we go anywhere together, with the 2 kids in the back. The suggestion is that I sell my 2 cars and get an out and out 2 seater, hence the Cayman. Specifically, it would be the Cayman S and a 20k budget (which will inevitably stretch by 10%) should get me a late pre-facelift model. Does this seem reasonable? What I'd like to know is which options are worth spending money on. For example, if an auto box is an expensive option, then that would be wasted on me as I specifically want a manual. Conversely, are there any options such as sat nav that a Cayman simply can't be without? Are there any resources on here which show standard, original wheels? I'm keen to keep things original, so would like to know what I'm looking for. Any other general advice? Cheers, Bryan |

How about this one viewtopic.php?f=35&t=16516 Following the Hartech rebuild, this is better than a new engine |

Not knocking the Cayman at all, but I'd think twice before selling the 944. No doubt there's someone out there who'd be only too happy to buy it from you, but you might end up wishing you'd kept it. Just sayin'. |

Wayne still needs convincing that he's doing the right thing by selling it lol |

Any advice in which options are worth splashing out on - PASM, sports chrono pack etc? |

Provisionally sold the Audi S5, so that's stage one nearly out of the way. Buyer collecting on Tuesday. Then I went in the garage for something and as always, I found myself looking at my impossibly pretty and shiny 944 Cab and the reality that I'm going to have to sell it too dawned on me. I'm now regretting something before I've even done it! I have to sell both to pay for the Cayman. I could pocket the proceeds of the sale of the Audi and drive the 944 as my daily driver..... I have until Tuesday to get a grip and make a decision. |

You won't regret it when there is a Cayman to play with! |

I used my S2 cab as a daily driver for 12 months and 15,000 miles. ![]() |

How about keeping the '44 and getting a 996/7 to replace the S5? |

Nice ideas guys, but owning 2 Porsches is a non-starter. Better to pool my cash and get the best I can with it. Speaking of which, I've just sold the Audi S5 - cleared funds in the bank, so I'm now committed! Went to see a high-spec 2007 Cayman S in Guards Red at OPC Solihull today. Really good experience with them. Told him the same as I've told you on here and they still spent 2 hours with me. The test drive - I'm hooked. Easy to drive in traffic or on the motorway, but give it some revs and it comes alive. I actually caught myself smiling on more than one occasion. A couple of minor jobs to do on the 944, then it's next to go, albeit reluctantly. Cheers, Bryan |
