Given this this morning, mine in for service and another look at the rattling dash.

Been to Portsmouth this time.

A manual transmission, very basic spec car other than sports exhaust and 20" wheels.

The power is very good, lovely quick car but compared to the 911 (my 996 had similar power output) you have to ring it's neck to get the performance, I much prefer the 911's torque to the Boxster.

I would not have 20" on this non PASM car, tramlining, too fidgety and not compliant enough when really pushing on on a B road.

Nice to have the roof down for an hour this morning too.

On the way down there I achieved this:

On the way back I took 20mpg and 10mph off those!

Got my car back.

Have to say OPC Portsmouth have been fantastic.

Good price, nice loan car and excellent communication.

They spent a good amount of time getting me to demonstrate the creaking and rattling dash problem with the technician before I left it with them.

I was expecting them to need it for some time to track it down given the month Silverstone had spent on it at Christmas time and not resolved it.

However, I got a call yesterday afternoon saying they had fixed it.

When I visited this morning I was told the tech had been seen being driven around the car park while perched under the bonnet, now that's what I call dedication to the cause!

Whilst he initially thought, like me that it was internal and had some of the dash panels out and packed with spacers and foam which didn't solve it. iIt ended up being a loose bolt in a brace under the plastic scuttle cover in the engine bay on the nearside of the car, had to take the wipers and panel off to find it.

Refreshing change was that the actual percentages for brake pad and tyre wear were given rather than my previous experiences with the other cars stating they just needed changing! Incidentally after 20,000 miles the brake pads are 67% worn at the front (disks still like new!) which I'm very impressed with given the weight of the car and the way it's driven especially having done so many European passes this year!

I'm glad to say the car is now as it should be and I'm over the moon with the service I've had, recommended!

Yep agreed, they always seem helpful, communicative and they're happy answering questions without steering you towards spending.
