I also used to have an S2 Cab, before I bought my Gen2 Cayman S.
I'd agree with the issues around the condensers as they're too exposed at the front of the car, so get battered by stones, clogged up with leaves etc, which inevitably leads to corrosion. Some people fit Zun Sport grilles to prevent this.
Also agree about the coolant pipes. I forget the precise details, but aluminium meets steel, causing galvanic corrosion, leading to leaks. Several hundred pounds to replace fully. The subframe needs to be dropped, meaning geo realignment.
Servicing is every 2 years, with spark plugs replaced every 4 years. Make sure these have been done on time as the spark plugs can get stuck if left too long, which is a major headache.
Coilpacks last about 6 years, so check if they've been done recently. Looking at about £300 if you replace with original parts, plus labour.
It's worth noting that if you go for the PDK gearbox, they're treated as a modular item i.e. if they go wrong, then it's a new gearbox. I think 12k is the going rate! I'm not aware of anywhere that can perform simple repairs. OPC certainly won't. They're also expensive to service, but that's every 6 years and done almost exclusively by OPC.
These cars are no longer new, so there may well be a few maintenance jobs in the pipeline. I put away £150 a month to keep the war chest topped up, which seems to be about right.
Cheers, Bryan
