Hi guys - sorry, should have posted here!!!!
My insurance is soon due and have started tonight to check on the net.
The first one I tried was Cherished Vehicle Insurance as it is TIPEC associated.
Can anyone tell me why, after completing the on-line quotation questionaire, Cherished Vehicle Insurance came back with - "unable to quote - please contact us"?
I have a clear history and no adverse problems!!!

Is this the norm for CVI?

Maybe CVI would like to respond via this forum??

Cheers,
Bob

I've always spoken to them direct, I've never used their website.

I have no idea what triggers their default, there is a list of qualifiers at the start of the process.

IMHO, Classic car insurance is always better approached over the phone or face to face. I got a brilliant deal from talking directly to an underwriter who was fascinated by modern classic cars.

This is especially the case when you have a good driving record and a low claim history. It separates you from the stereotype 'speed freak' or 'adrenaline junkie'. Only a human can do this!

If you live outside of a 'high risk' area that reduces further. There are so many aspects to consider verbal is the way to go. Computers are great in their place but they can't program the 'human touch' into them.

However, that said. It does pay dividends to shop around and look at 'agreed value' policies if you have a particularly exceptional classic.

Totally agree.

one of the most common problems across the 'classic' and/or agreed value market is the understanding of many of the potential clients is that by and large these vehicles have to be 'second' cars and are often with limited mileage to qualify for the policy, we see on all the forum that many clients are trying to insure their daily drive on a low cost policy. Of course many of the insurers have their own criteria on qualification, so I find that most years I have to ring round anyway.

it pays to shop around at each renewal time, compare the meerkat, & go compare. then direct line which arnt on the comparison sites. i live in a low risk area ( i think ) my 944 is my daily driver and kept on the drive, it is not a second car tho i am insured for my wifes much dented banger. fully comp for me is £180, other guys on here pay less! so shopping around will save you money. good luck

Thanks all for you advice and help.
I do normally shop around via the internet and will contact CVI by phone, and probably all the others, when I have a base line price.
Cheers.

Happened to me too a few weeks ago. They quickly rang back and completed the quotation which was very competitive...so good I took it.
