I'm looking to buy a boxter (2000 ish) for summer use only, and not to do many miles a year in. Question is, am I going to have any luck trying to insure the car in this way, or is it simply not old enough for classic type insurance? I know I can get a multicar policy but wondered if there were any specialists around who might help.
Thanks, Stu.

You can insure a Boxster on a Classic Policy but there are usually a few conditions.

Second Car
Maximum mileage
Garaged Overnight
Not used for Commuting to work

You will get further discounts for being a member of a car club.

There is a list in the Insurance section of brokers.

Hiya pal, I insured a Boxster (1998) on a modern classic policy with classic line insurance. There were a few conditions like it had to be on a drive or in a garage and I have a maximum yearly mileage of 5000 miles but all of this suited me. I can't really give you an idea of how cheap they normally are as I had just wrote off a 944S and now pay £800ish but bear in mind the nearest quote to it was £1350. Give them a try and good luck. :D

Thanks for the help. Rang cherished vehicle ins. and they were very good. They gave me a ball park figure quote of about £288.00 for a 3000 mile a year policy, for myself and the bride, which doesn't seem too bad. Didn't seem to make any difference if it is for a 2.7 or 3.2 either. I quite like being 50 now!
Stu.

I have a classic policy on my 2004 Boxster with unlimited mileage and including business mileage as my first car, so always worth an ask IMO. Classicline again ;) .
