Heynsdyk 2500 SF - Dutch kit car based on the 944

Post by poprock »

This has been kicking around the web over the weekend … a small Dutch kit car manufacturer whose first product is a 944-based roadster.

It’s, erm, odd.

Supposedly lighter and smaller than the 944 it starts off as, with a lower centre of gravity.

There’s a hard top that stows in the boot, but I can’t find any pictures of it with the roof on. I can’t find anything that clearly shows the interior either.

The Heynsdyk website is here

One mystery is why they’re only claiming a six second 0–60 time for one built on a late-model Turbo chassis. When a standard Turbo is quicker than that, surely losing weight and reducing the frontal area would make it even faster?

Umm very strange body shape. I suspect it will be very colour sensitive. Not sure I like the shape especially around the doors.

I like it but it looks more like it is based on a 911 than 944.

That is a bit odd! Can't say I like it at all, but making a soft top out of a 944 is not such a bad idea with the very strong sills. (well if they're not rotten)

The text is dutch only which is unusual but it looks like it is a rebody on a 944 floor & running gear. It is near 15K Euro which is 14K GBP so strong money.

Ummm <Scratches Chin> I'm in the Netherlands in Feb......

To work it would need to be on it's own space frame chassis. Seems pointless if you can't use a rusty 944. Think the 944 is prettier.

Audi 2.0 TDI Good but rather boring..........

Hi,

They wasted a 944 to make this! The 944 looks as great now as it did when it first came out. Oh...hang on...feeling a bit sick looking at that car....its ok....sickness passing...

Oh S#*t! Watch out.... :puke:

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder...

Not seen a grill like that since the Allegro.

Oh dear, I've seen much worse at the Kit Car Show.

Reminds me of a morph between a Z8, Jenson S V8 and a Gumpert.

I’m all for people trying something new, doing something original, going their own way, making use of the 944 in a modern setting, etc etc etc. So I think this is a Good Thing™.

Buggered if you’d ever see me buying one though.

The front looks regrettably like the crosseyed Morgan - like someone else said - a waste of a 944 :?

I don't mind the styling. I would be interested to see if someone could produce an updated 944 without going to far from the original styling and philosophy. I'm sure there is some weight to be trimmed and modern updates which could improve performance and handling without killing the feeling of a great design

I agree Richard ... to be honest I have thought for some while that Porsche should try to move its range back towards some past models. It has worked well for Ford with the Mustang, Dodge with challenger, Charger etc.
I wold love to see a return to the 944, 928 , 964 'look' in the designs. Retro syle.
