Hi All,
I bought an unmodified 987.1 Cayman S about 2 months ago and so far really enjoying the car! I've come from hot hatches (haven't we all!?) and fast saloons and really enjoying the fact that I don't have room for more than one passenger!
The acceleration, balance and turn in of the car is fantastic and really looking forward to some road trips in the summer.
Some points I've noted which I'd appreciate other's feedback on:
* I've got 19" (Sport Design) wheels with PASM and feel the ride on some roads is a bit 'crashy' and brittle at times. By brittle i mean, a bit of a plasticky snapping noise on some really harsh bumps. Already had it inspected by a local specialist and they've given it the all clear so I guess that's just how it is? Reviews I read suggested that PASM made it ride well enough and it does look great on the bigger wheels. I've driven a few before taking the plunge on this car, but this was the first with PASM (they're hard to find!) and the road surface on the test route was poor at best. Now I've got it back to some better roads (although still not great), I'm a little disappointed by the ride quality.
* How on earth Porsche can let cars leave the factory with that awful noise from the coffin arms on steering is beyond me, but again, I've been told that's normal!
* The touch points feel very cheap and low quality to me which is surprising given the marque but makes me pleased I didn't pay full price for this when it was new!
It's all about the driving though and on the whole impressions are good. Also it's great to find a good honest forum with no snobbery (hopefully!).
Cheers
Rich
