Hi All

has anyone any experience of using this company to repair there faulty speedo:

http://www.clusterrepairsuk.co.uk/repai ... ter-speedo

My cluster has stopped recording the mileage, trip distance and the rev counter doesn't always work. I've read these usually fail if the trip reset is pressed when driving so wanted to send it away for a company to referb professionally. Or if anyone has any other recommendations who else to send my cluster too?

Thanks

I had such problems just trying to get them to take on the work I gave up!

I was told £225 to investigate. They're just own the road from me so I arranged to drop off the speedo, on arrival they didn't answer the phone or the buzzer. Ended up driving off. Called the next week to be told they don't accept drop offs and I could only post. Logged my work via their website in order to post and heard nothing.

I ended up sending mine to these people;

https://retrorestorer.co.uk

Sent it recorded, was quoted £120, fixed in 5 days and sent back with a bill for £100.

Hi Toby thanks for this. I've just read your reply, dropped them an email and received a response pretty swiftly stating they can help and if I send it in they can referb for around £120 so il defiantly look to do this. a couple of questions tho:

what was wrong with your speedo and what did they fix/repair?
did they return with the same mileage displayed as it was sent away with?

Mark

Presume this is a late/oval dash car?

Speedo/trip failing is often down to one of the cogs that drives the display around failing. There are several source for replacement cogs, and it is a DIY job to do (if you have a little patience and a steady hand). The trip reset again can be a diy fix, often the push tab has moved out of line with its receptacle.

The rev counter could be either the signal generator (the reference sensor) or the gauge.

Sorry Mark! Not been on here for a while.

The capacitor and resistor had gone on my speedo. Retro restorer have an instagram feed and you can see the actual bits they replaced on a post from 23rd November. There feed is here; https://www.instagram.com/retro_restorer/

Hope you get it sorted.

...and to answer your question yes, the speedo came back with the same mileage displayed as it was sent away with.

Toby

They certainly seem to know they're onions and I've not heard a bad word about them. I've only used them for the speedo repair but it was top notch.
