Is there a simple cost effective replacement for plugging/deleting the RDK sensor in 928 rims other than welding up the holes ....... alternatives?

Is there a source for good used potentially non working sensors to use as a plug? Need 8! All other parts such as seals and rubber covers look available new. The sensors and retaining rings are spendy parts.

I have brand new NOS wheels and would like not to damage them by welding ideally. Thanks in advance

alas I think your going to struggle as they were a Bosch part and according to the Bosch website were discontinued in 1993

http://www.bosch-automotive-catalog.com ... country=XZ

Later One 0335561987
Early One 0335561986

I would consider having some made from billet alloy with an O ring grove and screw them in the rims

New sensors are available. With lock rings and seals they are almost £1000 per rim!!

So this is why I’m looking for a cost effective plug and play alternative as I don’t need them working.

Just one complete knackered one would help in setting up a machine shop to copy...

The parts list says the sensor o ring is 30x1.5, so a fair indication that the protruding thread was about 30mm so maybe a M30 . You have the wheel so this can be confirmed, you need to know the thread and how long it needs to be. There is a sectional drawing of the installation on p 44-32 which gives some detail, there is an exploded diagram on p 44-31 which gives more detail. It might be worth getting your machine shop to make nuts to suit, they ought to be cheaper than the OPC item. That way you don't have any issue with thread or fit. A quick look at RS suggests o rings ought to cost about £1.50 each for a bag of 5. So not outrageous prices.
Question: are there any other folks interested in a set of plugs?
Modern TPMS usually transmit actual pressure, does any one have the expertise to get that information to come up in the display. That really would be neat!

Been doing this for 2 weeks. No used ones, just new old stock. US 928 specialist wants $150 per sensor.....

Contacted Paul Anderson but no reply

Working on a bespoke plug. 3D printed proto on its way prior to machining the end result. If anyone is interested then I may be able to commission more sets.

I eventually welded the RDK holes up using a milled aluminium 'disc' professionally welded into the opening. At least 2 of the 7x16'' if not all 4 are now for sale as surplus to my needs. They are ready to fit and use on a 928, 944, 924 or any flavour of slammed VW or Audi

Can be seen on the front of my car below. Centre caps are not included and can be bought via OPC etc. I am keeping the 8x16 rears and looking to buy 2 more 8x16's if anyone has any or a lead to buy. Thanks
