Looking for recommendations of where to get power steering racks rebuilt - at a reasonable cost.

In all the years I have been working with cars I have used Power Steering Services, I believe they are in Woolwich area now in south London

They might even have exchange rack ready to go,

I purchased an exchange rack from Western Power Steering - they were excellent.

It was around £200 for an exchange usnit, or I believe they will recon your own rack for a bit less.

I had one rebuilt at Western Power Steering in Hanham, Bristol. Must be 10 years ago but I know they still exist. service and price was excellent.

Slight correction - it was £275 inc VAT & delivery/collection.

I spoke to all 3 suggested suppliers and decided to go with Western due to the all-in service and reasonable price. They have units on the shelf but on an exchange basis (they can rebuild one's own unit as well). I decided on the exchange unit which should be delivered in the next couple of days, they will arrange collection of my unit - all in the price. Fingers crossed job done.

I will report back on the quality of the unit provided ect.

Unless thay have changed their offer, you dont get the track rods & gaitors with the rack. I removed the rods from my old rack and fitted new track rod ends (from opc) and gaitors (Euro car parts). You will also need new seals for the fluid lines (pennies from OPC).

One final tip I can suggest is - be careful when refitting the fluid lines - it is very easy to overtighten and strip the thread in the alloy rack body (ask me how I know  ).
