Does anyone know where I can get hold of a software upgrade disk to update the firmware on my PCM 2.1 head unit?

I am running V1 and am looking for V3.

I am informed that this will enable mp3 cd playback and post code searching on the latest DVD sat nav maps

I'm told this comes as part of the maps pack with the latest releases but costs circa £350 - £500 from an OPC.

Any help or advice would be appreciated.

Hi :)

I thought someone told me that even the current cars software will not allow full postcode searching ???

All the best Brett :)

First 5 characters only from the posts I've read elsewhere (but that is probably sufficient for most occasions), this functionality comes with the software upgrade and you need the new DVD sat nav maps apparently. On my current system the village I live in isn't even on the map (and it's not that small)

Hi all new to the forum - own a 2005 997 carrera 2S - About to embark on a self install of the PCM 2.1 DVD sat nav unit. However realised I needed to do a firmware upgrade from Version 1 to support the DVD sat-nav . Does anyone know where I can get hold of the software.

I looked at all this and in the end I decided to ditch the PCM and had an Alpine 900R installed.

£900 all in, very pleased with the upgrade. :)

Touch Screen, Bluetooth, DVD, iPod, USB, Euro Sat Nav with alerts live traffic, lane guidance etc.

I'm now getting a "System Error: Amplifier, CD changer and phone are not available" message. OPC are going to upgrade the firmware for me, but if it doesn't work I need to look into what to do?

Given the performance of the PCM and how many fail, it seemed common sense to buy the Alpine. :)

I know you're right, but I'm struggling to fit the cost into the budget approved by the boss. A new set of Alcons at £1000 are already approved, so I can't complain. :D

The Porsche speakers sounded so much better when hooked up to the Alpine :)

paid my money and took my chances.. worked spot on :D
Full postcode hasn't ever been available and I don't believe you can put speed camera data bases onto the system.

The battery went flat and I replaced it. Once the new battery was fitted, stereo started working again. :D
