Well first off some pics !

How is it ?
fantastic !
what is it ?
996 GT3 Mk1 Clubsport

very different from the 997

Tricky to get off the line, due to the ligthweight flywheel;
sublime, telepathic steering - the 997 was 'solid' but this takes it to another level - so direct it's untrue
Acceleration seems on a par with the 997 to about 6k then this pulls like a train.
Not so much torque low down as the 997, but still plenty

The noise.
very mechanical - not much exhaust noise ;
until past the 5K mark then all hell breaks loose - and the last 1krpm to 7600 is aural bliss !!
Suspension is err - stiff to say the least - doesnt handle large bumps well.
but, what we have found out that if you are just pootling along it's like a pertulant teenager - it just wants to be driven fast.

Seats (nomex buckets) are remarkably comfortable;
harness - well it's a harness !
driving position is spot on, despite the seat only having one adjustment - back & forwards
No squeeks, no rattles.
sounds like a bag off spanners being thrown into a metal dustbin when starting from overnight cold

and the real surpise - fuel consumption is lower than the 997 !
cruising down the M40 at NSL plus a bit we were seeing over 35 mpg !

Just don't want to stop driving it

it really is as good as they say..

David

Good reason to! The 1st, 3rd, 4th & 5th are still massive.

Really nice David.

Been wondering about a mk1 gt3 myself recently as there are a couple around worth looking at for nice money but wondered if it was worth the bother of changing.

Paul - yes,there are a couple (literally !)there were only 28 RHD clubsports made !
I looked at all available, and this was the best by a long way.
Others were quite tatty;
though they had sensible upgrades (suspension & brakes)

anyway, red is faster :)
