996 C2 3.6. Rattle from underneath at slow speed. Tried all usual suspects, neither I nor MOT man can find any play in anything. Recently new top mountings which cured a lot of things but not this. Seems worse after journey. Any ideas, thanks. Grahame996.

Had one of 'those' rattles, drove me mad. The exhaust heat shields had come loose and were rattling on the silencers. Also found one of the wheel arch liners had come loose. Might be worth a look.

Hi, sounds more like the plastic shields than metallic, will investigate that, thanks. Grahame.

Hi, it's manual with 97k, 53 plate, also when I give the front end a nudge sounds like something rattling in the fuel tank? weird. Have looked at the front undershield and is secure, have yet to check other plastic bits. I would normally have gone straight to the AR bar links with this rattle but all seems well there, thanks, Grahame.

Was going to suggest clutch or dual mass flywheel noises if it had been more"clunky"rattle and if the car had done a few miles?

Hi, clutch renewed 2years ago DMF deemed OK then, can get slight noise when changing gear if I'm not smooth, but it's only slow speeds on rippled surfaces. It'll get worse I expect then see what it is! Cheers Grahame.

If your box is a bit "snicky", when was the gearbox oil changed last, nearly always gets overlooked and usually transforms the operation.
