I was just watching a Porsche 991.2 Overview video on YT, and noticed that the PDK Shifter looks like it shifts in the opposite fashion to my 997.2 PDK..?

Is that how PDK works in the newer cars? Is it the same for the 991.1?

Seems totally counter-intuitive to the UP AWAY/DOWN TOWARDS setup I have..

I think GT3 was first to go that way 2 years ago.

Actually its easier to pull the lever toward you than push away,

Personally, i'd prefer to pull to go up a gear but if you are already used to the other way, it will seem odd
I'm pretty sure that most of the racing games i played in arcades years ago were this way round too

There is a mix of the two with other manufacturers

I think it'd take some time for me to change my programming! Although accidentally shifting "down" and over-revving would soon accelerate the learning..!!

Yeah now that you mention it, SEGA Rally was LO top, HI bottom..!

I guess I just associate the incremental Number of the Gear [1, 2, 3 etc.] as an Upward count and vice versa.. Funny thing, but I went along to Silverstone for a 991 GTS Test Drive Experience earlier in the year, and am sure I used the PDK as per my 997.. Maybe I was on the Paddles the whole time though..? I don't remember..

It's forward for up shifts on my 991.1 C2S, although I believe this is reversed for the GT3. I never use the lever for manual shifts.....the paddles are much better Right paddle up, left paddle down. Most of the time it stays in fully automatic mode as the PDK box is brilliant :D

That is such a weird thing to do.. Right..? Why change the Shifter Direction across the 991 range..?

GT3 PDK selection direction is the opposite way to other 991's

It follows the cup car direction

Feels natural to me, but that may be due to driving a cup car for a while.

to be honest though, I use the paddles 99.9% of the time over the stick

It's a lot easier than reaching for the stick when 'pressing on' - on track obviously :)

PDK sport really is very, very good even in automatic mode - it does 90% what I'd be doing under full manual control (and the other 10% is probably me doing it wrong!)
