Driving home last night I heard a loud clonking noise coming from the offside front of the car.
Pulled over and had a feel around and found a piece of the coil spring had snapped off the top.
Managed to get it out with a bit of twisting and pulling and continued my drive home.
I have a 2005 05 Carrera S with 29000 miles on the clock and was wondering if anyone else had experienced a similar occurence on their vehicles.
Are the standard opc replacements the way to go or is it worth uprating them and what are the costs involved.

Kind Regards

Tony

Quite common on 986 and 996

you should find another single or pair on ebay
It's a shame Porsche don't offer a full suspension M0303 kit like they do for 986/96

They do break - I've had a front and a rear go since my 997 ownership started. Maybe go for a full set of Eibach springs?

Front nearside spring snapped at 24,000 miles and were replaced under warranty.
That was in 2009. Intend to fit Eibach when required.

My 997 is now on Eibach springs. A subtle but positive improvement in ride and handling.
