Hi all

I need to replace the oil pipe that goes from tank to pressure relief valve. Problem is that the union nuts are so rusted I cant shift either end! If anyone has managed this and has any tips i would be grateful.

Thanks

Mike

Hi Mike

Cannot remember who told me but he removed the union nuts by grinding them to split them with a dremel drill/grinder. Believe it took a bit of time but with care it saved the oil tank etc. just had to clean up threads afterwards.

Hopefully someone who has done the job will be along soon.

Regards Eric

Yes, i used a Dremel and ground across face of nut untill exposed top of thread, then open up with chisel. If on oil cooler end cut through flexibles and hold in vice to remove nuts. Thread is coated from new with some sealant that hardens with age. Take your time it does work

Hi
Thanks for help. Things have move on a little in as much as the tank end is now free. Just need to get the relief valve end off now. I think the Dremel seems best so will give that a try. No turning back after that though!
Happy New year.
Mike

I used a small pencil gas torch and heated them. Seemed to work OK
