Hi,

I have an early 993 C2 and a weak old battery triggered the air bag warning light. Replaced the battery but the air bag warning light needs to be reset (The car is fitted with an RS steering wheel and does not have an airbag). Any recommendations to get the issue resolved? I would normally take the car straight to PCT but they are no longer trading unfortunately.

I am based in Sutton Coldfield.

Cheers

Sanjay

You still have your passenger airbag installed I presume? I can only think that the diode that was installed to fool the ecu into thinking you had an airbag on the driver's side has failed due to a power surge when new battery fitted, was the ignition turned on when you fitted the new battery? Fit a new diode, or the fault may be on the passenger side? I would try the diode first, if it's not that, get the car plugged into an analyzer to check for a fault on the other bag. I have a similar arrangement on my 993, recently had a total failure on the battery, but did not have any issues when I fitted the new one.I don't know about Indies in your area I am afraid, I expect someone will be along shortly who does though.

Passenger airbag installed and the warning airbag light came on before the new battery was put in so I don't think its the diode. Investigating the analyzer option at the moment.

Hi

Try German Auto Solutions base in Uppingham 01572 492701. Ask for Paul

I had to remove door airbag the other week to replace window mechanism. Triggered air bag warning.

These Guys had the issue solved in 5 minutes.

Hope this helps.

In that case, the diode or its connection could have failed..........it happens! depends on how well it was installed, they are only pennies. Now we know the fault existed before the new battery went in, I would put my money on the diode/connection.
