As some of you may know, I collect wheels.

I've just obtained (another) set of BBS SC but these have sat in the back of a garage/shed for 15 years, and as well as having tyres datestamped 1997  they have lovely metal valve stems.

My other set of Sport Classics have rubber valve stems (and more modern tyres :D )

Did all Sport Classics come with metal valve stems, which have since been binned by careless tyre-changer-monkeys at some point over the past 15 years, or are these a special tequipment version?

Please don't take my post as fact,

But my parners father owns a 2.5 boxster with Sport classics and it has the metal valves. I know the history of this car well as my father used to own and im pretty sure it came with the metal valves fro the factory.

Hope this helps.

I would agree from memory of back in the day, even through it does not seem that long ago, it has been a while since I found myself looking at a new car wearing those wheels! But I do remember that prior to Porsche using metal valves on wheels, the ones with rubber valves back in the 90's had a metal lip, a little like a wheel weight, which stuck onto the wheel next to the valve so at seriously high speed the rubber valves would not bend outwards.. But I do not remember seeing them on this kind of wheel.
