I've been busy with replacing wheel bearings and suspension bushes on the 964 over the winter and when it came round to start putting things back together I needed to source a selection of nuts, bolts and washers that were specified to be replaced in the Porsche workshop manual.
After a few hours tracking verifying current part numbers across the internet, i still had a couple of question marks. I thought it would be worth a trip to an OPC for validation.
Having not had an excuse yet to check out the Portsmouth OPC, this provided one.
Outside and in it's a very impressive place and I was given a warm welcome.
The Parts guy, Tom Sage, is extremely helpful and went through the long list of bits and resolved every one. Tom is also the centre's Heritige representative so also has a vested interest in looking after owners with older cars.
As far as prices are concerned, they were on a par with those I saw on the internet. and given the service, not worth penny pinching over.
Right next to the parts department is the diagnostic bay, with an impressive array of equipment and a very advanced alignment system, given that they offer a labour rate discount for "classics" I will be taking the 964 there once all four corners are finished.
Tom kindly also gave me a tour of the facility, through the showroom and workshops. Amazing selection of cars, the new Caymen looks fantastic up close, the configuration room is the stuff of dreams where you can specify a bewildering array of customisation for your new car.
I highly recommend a visit, just for the sake of it, and next time you need parts, let Tom help you out.

Cheers,
Iain

I know someone in Inchcape management who can get me a friends and family discount there for servicing and purchases, just waiting for a nice Panamera to come in now!

I'm sure your 10% TIPEC discount would be better?

Servicing maybe but the purchase deal is what dealer paid plus repairs at cost plus £250 so a decent deal all considered. Bournmouth is in thg group too.

High praise again for Tom at Porsche Centre Portsmouth, genuine enthusiasm for the older cars I've just placed my second order for parts this month 10% discount without asking.
