booked 944 in at OPC for a 12k service about 3 weeks ago, anyway dropped car off this morning just after 8.30am, asked them to check belt tension as well and to leave the air filter as its a k+n panel with a billion mile (or whatever) life, at 2.30pm get a phone call with the usual list of advisories, pads 1/2 worn etc, and an "oh will it be okay to keep the car until tomorrow as we forgot to order a service kit", surely without the air filter that only leaves plugs, oil and fuel filter and of course oil, do they not keep these as stock items ?

Also booked mine in to be sorted for it's bi anual service. (Gets spoiled but prevention is better than cure etc.) I will go to GSF for the oil (Fuchs Synthetic also sutible for zee panzer tank.) & filters. Then the garage keep plugs in stock. I keep a stock of bits in the spare room. About half a car at the moment. Will put wheel bearings & assorted favourites in the car when it goes in & they will use what they like. Ordered a sump gasket for it too.
Compare the bill after if you like  Last service was just £90 including parts. After replacing everything the service is lots cheaper. :bom:

OPC quoted £300 inc vat for 12k service, local indies were only around £30 cheaper, so for the stamp in the book ....

got the car back last night, they found quite a lot wrong, corroded brake pipes on rear axle, both flange seals on gearbox weaping and a perished brake flexi hose, so with 12k service, parts listed, brake fluid and gearbox oil change £763, but more interesting than that was an early (y reg) 928 on the ramps with all its wheels off awaiting work, service advisor said they still get a few 944, 968, 964 and 928's in regularily

Just got mine back from it's anual service. The works + number plate lights had died. (Rusted in) & the B' Cambox gasket had started to weep again. (Thats it getting a new rubberised one from Lindsey racing. It nipped up for now.) Few other bits like a new master cylinder resovior to match the coolant one replaced last time. £90 labour (including brake strip.) :D Now all I need is a switch for the sunroof (The one in the sunroof) & the micro switch in front of it. Thats the next project. :bounce:

Booked my '44 in at the local OPC.
They are going to charge £750 for the belts and 12K service. As I have no service history, I'm hoping this will set my mind at ease and they'll be able to give a good run down of possible future problems.

After that I might have to develop my pavement mechanic skills a little

Know the outcome in a couple of weeks so fingers crossed :dontknow:

might be worth changing waterpump while the belts are off, its a sort of unwritten rule to replace pump every 2nd set of belts

I've seen that written several times on the forum. I have mentioned it to the OPC and they are going to keep me informed as work goes on. :|
They've asked to keep the car overnight and I'm saving a contingency fund

when the OPC did my 12k and belts and chain they had the car for 4 days, there where a few other items to be addressed such as handbrake switch etc, they do ring you with any updates and cost of any other work required
