First of all, thank you to all those who have sponsored Ben so far, he's overwhelmed by the responses, messages of luck and generosity.
Here is the page again if you'd like to help him on his way to Africa next year, it tells you all about what he's going to be doing there and what he's raising the money for:
https://crowdfunding.justgiving.com/ben-mableyBen has now completed the first part of his challenge, cycling 105 miles from Wolverhampton to Aberdovey last Friday over the mountains in wind and rain!
Here is his route from his bike computer for those interested:
https://www.strava.com/activities/621063571Ben had joined me after I'd completed two days in the Brecon Beacons and Black Mountains, this was my 3rd century ride on consecutive days!
The day started with nice weather and we were all in high spirits.
Good excuse to eat a load of jam donuts!
Towards the middle of the day 50-65 miles in, the weather turned on us with very heavy rain and cold headwind which became very challenging, still managed to raise a smile though!
85 miles in, the weather started to improve again with sunshine and showers, spirits picked up again as we edged closer to the finish.
We had a little celebration when we passed 100 miles and an even bigger one when we finally came down Aberdovey High Street to the finish and even managed a sprint across the line at 105 miles done!
Very proud of him, massive achievement having just turned 15 years old!
Again, thank you for any support you have given or are able to give.
Cheers
Paul
