Hello Again,

I have just found out that it is only £25 to have my own Alternator repaired which i thought was quite cheap so thanks to Alasdair for his offer and my aplolgies for posting a Wanted ad when not required.

Best regards, barry

At risk of kicking this thread back into action.....

Will Alasdair's S2 alternator work/fit on a Turbo?

How difficult is it to change?

Pretty sure it will fit, the S2 in the garage is very similar to the Lux one. I can't get to PET at the mo, but will check later.

Fiddly to change as it is all underneath, but disconnect battery, undertray off, slacken threaded adjuster (left & right hand nuts) then undo from alternator, loosen other end. Loosen through bolt & disconnect alternator connections under cooling horn. Remove through bolt & R & R alternator. Adjust adjustable strap for 1/4 play on belt.
I'd replace belt if not new as they have a hard life & you may need to remove the threaded adjuster complete to free up the nuts on it as they seize.

Hi Rav, the S2 and the Turbo ones are the same. the earlier ones did't have the air intake vent on them that connects into the back housing. I still have the alternator if you need it, removed the bottom end from the car last night.

Clarks suggests you have to start messing about with the cooling system for some reason only on a turbo.
I chickened out and had a new one fitted whilst the car was away.
It makes a hell of a difference to starting speed.
