Look, I'm just putting this out there, have had this itch for a while for a Cayman. I love the 996 and have spent hours getting it to sparkle and £'s wherever it is needed mechanically.
The "Peppermint Peril" has become a fairly well known TIPEC car, but a change in circumstance means a potential change in thought (and devotion!!!), so anyone fancy making an offer on a '98 996 Tip, that rare (marmite) Jade Green, loved car let me know, equally anyone with words of wisdom, should I or shouldn't I... :?: :!: :?: :!: :?: :!:

When you drove the Cayman at the PEC, you're first words were "its not a 911".

Nothing at all wrong with a Cayman, they are a great looking car and awesome on a track day. Itches are there to be scratched, you can always buy another 996/997 if you don't like it. Promise that you will take someone with you, who is not colour blind when you buy you're next Porsche. Green on Green is one heck of a colour combination. :D

Martin,

I was a bit surprised to read this, I'd always assumed you'd never part with your 996, even though you've mentioned it recently. Your 996 is a great car in fabulous condition and someone is going to get a really good buy.

How could I ever try to persuade you to ignore the 'itch'!

Stuart

I've done something similar. I had a 944 S2 Cab that I'd invested time, money and effort in and got everything just as I wanted. I had a quite an emotional attachment to it too. I also had an itch for a Cayman and eventually, after advertising then withdrawing the 944 from sale (twice), I finally sold up and bought the Cayman. I actually had to sell my Audi RS4 too to fund it. I have no regrets. The Cayman is better by every objective measure, but that doesn't make it a more desirable car, necessarily, but the two are so different, they can't be compared.

As Sean said, if you change your mind, you can always go back.

Cheers,
Bryan
