Hi folks
Newbie here, just joined to register my interest in any of the above that are currently (or imminently) for sale.
My budget is around £3k, and I'd ideally be looking for an oval dash in decent condition. Other than that, I'm open to suggestions/offers, so do feel free to get in touch if you're selling.
I'm based in London, but always happy to travel to view a good car.
If it is of any interest, I'm about to sell a CLK430 Convertible (2000/X, black/black, 122k miles, good condition, excellent spec), and would consider a swap/trade.
Many thanks
DRP
Hi DRP
Are you still looking for a 944 Auto?
I recently purchased a 1985 944 Lux Auto (Silver) from the son of the original owner (who sadly passed on) and who is a nearby neighbour.
I have spent a fair bit on getting it back on the road as it was SORN for about a year. The mechanic I used has owned a few 944s himself and said it was a very good example, with no rust underneath and no repairs carried out underneath either. It didn't need much really, just new brake lines, new fuel line, new disks and pads, oil change and service and a bit of electrical work to get things like head lamps, horn etc working again. I have been considering getting a complete restoration done on the outside as at the moment it is basically an untouched original. The bodywork is in very good condition for its age, with only very small imperfections that wouldn't require a lot of attention, however the sunroof has faded a lot and needs restoring/respraying, and the fuel filler cap (which I believe is plastic) is also in need of a re-spray.
Interior wise it is in very good condition for its age and the only damage to the seats is on the passenger seat, where there is a rip between the leather and the cloth in one part, but again could be restored relatively easily.
It has been serviced and MOT'd now and I have driven it for just over 100 miles over the last couple of months. It has completed just over 90,000 miles and I have all of the paper work to show this.
Things that need attention include the sunroof motor, which may need replacing or at least a new relay, as it doesn't operate at present, the rear windscreen wiper motor, and a new front badge as someone has previously stolen it!! I have added in a 1990 Blaupunkt stereo from a friend, which although is not the original it looks good for the age of the car and all of the speakers and F/R fader work!
Please let me know if it is something you are interested as I have taken lots of photos of it to share and was intending to list on Autotrader.
