Hello!

For sale, my 1998 Porsche 911 996 3.4 Carrera

Mileage: 93,000 (may rise as i use it often)
Last Service: Feb 20th, 2016
MOT Due: January 2017 (passed with no advisories)
Price: £14,000

This car is an original UK ‘Sport Spec’ car, which consisted of the MO30 sports suspension, Limited Slip Differential, sports seats, sports steering wheel, and 18 inch wheels. Porsche UK made up this specification to offer as a pack to UK customers. The previous owner (a chief designer at Bentley) also added a sports exhaust and split rim wheels. The LSD and M030 kit makes this one of the most desirable of the 996 C2’s

I am a member of TIPEC. I looked very carefully before buying this car, and have looked after it extremely well, as shown below

Mechanicals

Total 911 Magazine, July ‘06: "Read some magazines and Internet forums and you’ll be frightened off buying an early 996 because you’re led to believe that the engines will fail on you. In reality, though, there are tens of thousands of the cars out there that are running beautifully"

My car has the earlier 3.4 Litre water-cooled engine. Since owning it, i’ve been very careful to treat the engine properly. It has never been over-revved, and always made sure the engine is up to temperature before raising the revs. It has has been run on Shell Optimax for the last 45K miles (myself and the 2 previous owners), and i’ve had the car serviced twice in 18 months

The car has benefitted from the following options:
C16 Build code (UK car, not a Cyprus import)
030 Sports suspension -10mm lower
014 Sport package 996
220 Limited Slip Differential with 40% lock
222 Traction Control
224 Active Brake Differential
288 Headlamp washer

Exterior

Car is Ocean Blue, colour code L3AZ. Body is standard, no aftermarket add-ons!
I’ve kept the car on my driveway, although i know the last owner garaged it for a number of years. The Paint is in good condition, with only one or two minor blemishes. I’ll try to make sure the photos show what i mean

The BBS Sport Split rims are in good condition, but do have a couple of scratches. I’d suggest they’re consistent with a car used daily. I’ll try to make sure the photos show what i mean

Interior

Interior is full leather, in Metropole Blue. In reality it looks more Grey than Blue. The leather is in very good condition. There are no scuffs or scratches to the leather, and the bolsters show no sign of wearing. Front seats are electric, and heated. I believe a previous owner has reconditioned the Sports hardback seats, for which i have the invoice. The car still has it’s original toolkit and spare. There are aftermarket footwell carpets, but the colours match, and don’t look out of place. The interior has benefitted from the following options:

X71 Alu-look instrument dials
139 Seat heating, left
340 Seat heating, right
375 Sports seat, left
376 Sports seat, right
320 Cassette-radio Porsche/Becker CR-11 ROW
408 18" Technology design wheels (lightweight, hollow-spoke, no longer with the car)
421 Front cassette compartment
490 Sound system
635 ParkAssistant (rear sensors)
650 Sunroof
659 Board computer
680 Sound system: MY1998-2001 DSP Digital Sound Processing, MY 2002-2005 Bose

History

Full service history. Initially serviced at main Porsche dealers, and subsequently serviced at Porsche specialists including Hartech, Autoworke and JAZ Porsche

Big folder of invoice paperwork going back to 2004. Lots of bills… Previous owner replaced radiators, front dampers (correct MO30 spec), new discs (recently), and most significantly new brake lines all round. This is a big job (it involves dropping the transmission) that any 996 will need doing by now. The car only uses about a litre of oil between annual services. The car has Halfords high powered head lamp bulbs

The car comes with both original keys

During my ownership…

Reason for Sale

I’m selling this purely due to the new found joy of school fees, otherwise i would be keeping it as an investment. Original examples are hard to find, and prices are rising, so this is a very reluctant sale!
