Hi, I'm selling my 944 S2 as spares or repair 127000 miles. I thought I would see if anyone here wants it before going the eBay route. I need a fairly quick sale I am about to lose my garage space for my 928 and need the parking permit back for it. Also the car has no road tax and no MOT and has attracted its first ticket today. I think it is unlikely it would pass its MOT with the current running issues although last mot only had an advisory.

- Engine is misfiring, not running on all cylinders and idling pretty badly. This started intermittently and got worse a few weeks ago. All I have attempted to do is clean the ignition contacts and run some fuel cleaner through it. Prior to this engine had a semi-rebuild about 5 years ago and was running really good. Wasn't burning/losing any oil and was running strong. It may or may not be a simple issue but I just don't have time to play around with it.

- Bodywork - Rust in all the usual places, several small dents and scratches, stone chips. I did have both sills patched up and sprayed in black primer for a previous MOT. I think structurally the car is ok but you'll need to check for yourself. If you wanted to fix the car there would certainly be some welding and a full re-spray required.

- Sunroof is knackered and won't lock. It flaps open on the motorway unless you open a window. It doesn't however appear to leak

- One fog light glass is smashed

- Interior seats don't have any rips but need a good clean and perhaps some dye. Headliner is ripped. Boot carpet is pretty grubby and there are a few very small cracks in the dash. With a good clean the interior wouldn't look too bad.

- Has M030 suspension although it is a little crusty (see pics). Brakes calipers I think are standard S2. They were refurbed several years before I bought the car and would clean up quite nicely.

- The car has shedloads of receipts and has had a ton of money spent on it over the years, it doesn't however have a service book.

If I can think of anything else I'll add it or feel free to ask. The car does drive (not very well) and has no MOT so I think it would need trailered unless you are very local. If I don't have any interest here in a few days then it's going on eBay. Open to offers.

Mike

As requested some pics of the stainless steel exhaust.

A few more things I have remembered. The clutch was changed while the engine work was being done. That was in 2009 about 10000 miles ago. And the gearbox is good. Clock works! Looking for £1250.

I could perhaps be wrong I'll need to check it out later. It is adjustable though. Each of the front struts has an adjustment on the top. 3 settings I believe.

Sounds like adjustable Konis (I had these on my s2) rather than m030 option (from factory). Though I bought mine as inserts.

I'm on holiday otherwise I would have come for a look myself.

Ok. Just had the police at my door regarding the 944. Apparently it has a fuel leak and the fire brigade had to come round and put sand under it to soak it up. Pretty sure that may be the cause of the poor engine running. The upshot of it is I have until about 5pm tomorrow to get rid of it otherwise it will go to the pound. If anyone wants it and can collect it tonight or tomorrow £500. Un-ripped leather interior alone has to be worth that. Call me 07725946651

 Disconnect the fuel line and pump the fuel out into a can.

Sold. Would have preferred it went to someone from the forum but a trade guy gave me what I was asking and took it away within about 20 minutes of me calling them.

Sad end to Helga.

Car turned up again on Gumtree (Edinburgh) this week with a 12 month MOT and advertised for £1750..... the advert lasted about 24 hrs so presumably quite a quick sale at that price.

The sunroof was still sitting about half an inch high of the roof.... hopefully the new owner doesn't get an unexpected "targa experience" when on the motorway!

The price ? A fit S2 is worth a lot more than £1750.

Heh. Didn't see it on gumtree. I'm usually checking all the ads. As for MOT, I'm fairly confident that with the fuel leak fixed it would pass. The bodywork on the car is in pretty poor state but had been fixed around the areas needed for its MOT. At £1750 it looks like they got the bargain that I told them they were getting. Just hope the new owner appreciates that it would probably take a fair bit of work to get it up to scratch and keep it on the road.
