Does look a nice car but as mentioned over priced with those remaining things to fix and without the top end rebuild confirmation, also has the clutch been done if not it will likely need to be soon. I would have thought around the £3.5-4K mark but having said that I have looked at some S2s recently with an asking price of £3.5K that were completely rotten wings and sills so maybe the market is changing.

Good luck I hope you get what you are asking.

I noticed in the photos that the bonnet doesn't align with the front badge panel on the nearside.

Thanks for all the feedback, all really appreciated even if not exactly what i had hoped to hear! The car is going in tomorrow to have the rear box and tail pipe replaced with a baffled rear box and smaller tailpipe - £300 of your best folding...in fact I am working through the list step by step, particularly as it is looking more likely than ever that it will be staying in my ownership for the forseeable future. As a number of you rightly say, never expect to get back what you put into it, for me it as about having a car for a while, making it better / keeping it alive, and passing in on to someone else to continue the work....a totally sorted car must be a very dull thing to own !

I believe that despite the list of minors the car is an absolute belter and will only continue to get better - paintchip to be fixed very shortly, I also hope to get some photos of the underside when the exhaust is being done so will share those in a week or so.....

Also started to get signs of the running rich syndrome - money is on a new fuel damper, all good fun. the car will remain for sale for a fair offer around the £5.5k mark whilst I continue with the 'minors'......saw a nice red one earlier this week heading into Northampton from the Bedford side, looked solid and things like that could make me keep it !

I am glad you may keep it you will regret selling the car as finding another as well sorted is hard (I have been trying for 3 months) and you never get back what has gone into keeping them running so better to use it and enjoy it and like you said keep spending to keep trying to make it better.

I have been carefully watching 944's for the last few months and in particular over the last year, and much more so in the last couple of months, these are changing hands for much higher values, especially if they are around or under the 100,000 mile mark which seems to important to buyers, which this one is not too far off from.

I was shocked myself to see this happening, and in particular have seen a dealer in scottland sell a coupe of 944 turbo's recently for £15k and £18k, I know of a couple of 86 turbos with under 100,000 miles in the last few months which have sold for over £20k, and a couple of S2's with circa 75k miles selling for £13k

There was even a 944 Lux 2.7 (89) which sold on pistonheads a couple of weeks ago for £12995 with 45000 miles.

However, people are scared off by either high mileages (even though these cars wear miles really well) and people who pay top money do not want to have to fix anything.. as soon as their are things needing attention the value of an s2 can drop like a stone as it struggles to find someone both with cash and willing to have a project, even if the jobs needing doing are minor...

My advice would be to get all its niggles sorted out and then you could advertise it for maybe an entire extra digit on the sale price.
