It seems that as soon as I entered the fold I am coming out of it again! But like last time, it is the modern that is to blame.

Anyway, time to get down to the details:

Around 5 years ago this car was owned by Andrew Sweetenaham of ProMax Motorsport when he acquired it at 150,000 miles with a full service history. During that time, he added a number of goodies including:

Engine: Bailey DV30 Dump valve and Wortec Exhaust with a switchable valve between loud and quite (around £1k on its own).

Suspension: KW Variant 3 Suspension which has been corner weighed and setup by ProMAX. It has poly bushes on the ARBs in addition to recently fitted 968 Castor Mounts, and 17" Cup 1 wheels in Anthracite with good Michelin Pilot tyres all round. This also has the 'Big Black' brake upgrade, which are 928 GTS callipers- They certainly look great under the wheels!

Body: In good shape overall with it having new sills and wings not too recently.

Interior: Leather interior with Sports seats.

Recently the car has had a refurbished head from EMC Motorsport, and in my ownership I have given it a minor service in addition to changing a couple of minor items (DME relay and door check strap).

As you can expect the car drives well. Very very well. It probably has to be one of the best cars I have driven in terms of handling. The way the car pulls is fantastic, and it is a thrill.

Are there any letdowns? It has a slight amount of rust at the rear of the rear arches (very superficial) in addition to the bolster of the driver's seat being slightly torn (I planned to fix this, although I have been using this car quite a bit in my ownership (I have covered 3,000 miles in 4 months, where previously it covered 7000 miles in two years)). Oh and the clock does not work.

Do not let the above deter you what is quite a sorted 951. What do I want for it? £6,500 :). That includes an MOT until the end of January next year, and road tax until November.

Now for some Pics:

The KW's, wheels and the exhaust are probably worth £2k on their own.

There is also a Silver Rose advertised on here, hanging about somewhat.
Have you got yours advertised anywhere else? Trying to sell my 944 S2 Cab (7 years ago) and my 944 Turbo 2 years ago didn't get any real interest on here (ovrpriced!), so I put them on other sites, eg Piston heads and Autotrader; got many more responses.
After trying for 6 months from June 2006 the cab sold within a week after putting it on on auto trader, sight unseen, sent a trailer to collect it and that was during December 05-Jan 06. Might be worth a try.
Advertise it in as many places as you can you never know who might be looking; Otherwise sit tight, it may take a while for the right buyer to come along.
Clive
btw I kept the Turbo and am still Loving it after 7+ years :D

Old car prices seem to be primarily driven by nostalgia. 944 Turbo's aren't appreciated in the same way as an E30 M3, an Escort RS2000 or an Integrale despite being a better car. Perhaps they suffer from the 80's yuppie connection.

Thats me in my MKII RS2000 and strangely enough I am in the market for a 944 S2 or late 944 Turbo

I have been monitoring "asking" prices and it does appear that many struggle to sell at original asking price as they keep re-appearing with a lower price - this continues over a number of weeks/months then they go "off sale" but give it a week or two and they come back up for sale at an even lower price.

From the above I must conclude that yes with the current climate asking prices are too high.

This is no criticism of the cars currently on offer but why if the seller will eventually accept a substantially less final figure then why not ask a more tempting figure in the first place.

What does make me chuckle are adverts where it states "£**** AND NO OFFERS" yet the ad gets edited later when not sold and the price is reduced.

Long term cars for sale ring alarm bells for me, are they - overpriced ? fall at the inspection stage ? not as described ? buyers perception of car differs once they see it ? rose tinted glasses fall off when it comes down to handing over the money ?

As much as a seller has their price the buyer also has their budget but not always do these figures meet.

OVERPRICED or UNDER BUDGETED - you decide !!!

 I don't remember any of the many RS2's or Mex's I had picking up a wheel like that. The asking prices of 944's can be in proportion to what the seller has already spent or what needs to be spent on the car. Buy a dog and you may have to spend ££££££'s to sort it out. I don't think a clutch job on an RS2 costs £1k or it takes all day to pull the engine.
