Porsche 924 Racecar ex Porsche speed championship winner, now circuit racer.
We bought this car in 2009, it was built by Dave Dennett to win the Porsche Speed Championship in 2003, which it did, being victorious 10 times out of 12 rounds entered.
As we intended to use it for circuit racing we modified the engine, fitting a new set of forged pistons, machined to reduce the compression. We also fitted a purpose-built lightweight fuel tank to replace the sprint one that could only contain a few litres!!
The original built spec is as follows:
Lightweight body panels, aluminium roof, full roll cage. Total weight 840 Kg. (which may have gone up a little with larger tank and circuit racing extras).
Engine is four-cylinder, water-cooled Porsche 924 unit, over-bored and fitted with long stroke crank. Gas flowed head with enlarged exhaust valves. Lumenition throttle body and engine management system. Piper cam. Hayward and Scott four into one exhaust manifold with exit under passenger door. 2505cc, 157bhp at 7000 rpm. 167ib/ft torque at 5200rpm
Rear mounted ZF five speed transaxle, with factory spec limited slip diff.
We ran the car in CSCC Future Classics at Brands Hatch where it won it's class and also Heritage Grand Touring Car Challenge where it was a class winner at Snetterton. In the Heritage round at Brands, the car was shared with F1 commentator Tony Jardine.
We haven't run the car since 2010, but the engine has only done 4 hours. The belts are dated 2011 so need replacing for racing. .Everything is running fine but would recommend that the car is prepped before using.
This is a serious piece of kit but also a great car to drive with great road-holding and performance. Could run in a number of series,Sprints or would make a terrific track day car.
