For sale is my 1986 Porsche 944 Turbo in Sapphire Blue with burgundy half leather interior. This 944 is in fantastic condition. It has covered only 110,600 miles as of today and comes with a good service history. The car is MOT’d until March 17th 2014 (there were no advisories on the last MOT) and taxed until the end of September.

BODYWORK
All paintwork is in excellent order, bar a few small stone chips. The badge panel was re-sprayed just before I purchased the car so it’s very tidy. The car is rot and rust free on the and crucial areas like the sills are waxoyled, as are the fuel lines. The sills have just been taken care of due to a small rust patch on the rear outer corner of the nearside sill, with new metal welded in and then new stonechip and paint on both sills. The sills are rust free.

All panel gaps are straight, there's no accident damage or issues - the only imperfection is a small dent under the NSR light cluster as seen in the photo. New boot seal and boot lock pin seals have been fitted so the car is water tight.

ENGINE
The engine is very smooth and free revving with fantastic performance when the turbo kicks in! The car always starts from hot and cold first time with no problem, even if left for a couple of weeks without driving (which isn’t often!) The engine fluid changes are up to date (coolant just done) and benefits from a Promax ignition kit and K&N panel filter in the standard filter box. Belts were last changed December 2009 so would be due end of this year but have only done 12,000 miles. I fitted a new dump valve recently due to the original’s diaphragm starting to perforate causing a boost leak.

RUNNING GEAR
The car handles extremely well and is a very solid car. All bushes etc are in excellent condition as is the suspension, brake and fuel lines. The car was fitted from new with an LSD which is still on the car. Gear change is good with a new shift lever just fitted and the transaxle oil was changed last December. Brakes pull the car up quickly and straight, with plenty of meat left on the discs and pads. Brake fluid has just been changed. The car has the original 16 inch Teledials fitted with Porsche locking wheel nuts and are in excellent condition. All four tyres are matched and have plenty of tread left on them. In April I replaced one of the CV joints with a new one as it was worn. The other side was in excellent condition but was stripped, cleaned and re-greased.

INTERIOR
The car has half leather/half pinstripe burgundy interior which is in excellent condition with just an aged patina to it. There is a patch to the passenger side bolster. There is a Club Sport burgundy steering wheel fitted. There are a couple of hairline cracks by the dash vents but I’m being picky, it is very tidy overall. It has original burgundy ‘Turbo’ script floor mats. The mats are a little faded with age but the carpet looks like new

Last year I fitted a top end Pioneer head unit with USB, Aux and Bluetooth and there’s a microphone fitted to it too for hands-free phone calls. I also fitted 4 x Alpine speakers. Everything works in the car, even the factory fit aircon which was re-gassed last year with the correct gas. The system was checked for leaks and there were none.

It has an unused spare wheel, jack and tool kit. The luggage cover is intact and undamaged and the removable sunroof is electric, works and does not leak – the sunroof bag is also present. I had fitted a Cat 1 Thatcham approved Cobra alarm/immobiliser system with remote locking. I have 2 full sets of keys/remotes for the car

SUMMARY
This car is in excellent order and a completely standard version of the earliest 944 Turbos – there’s not many of these early cars left. I purchased the car last July from a Porsche enthusiast, he owned the car since 2009. The owner prior to him had the car for 14 years but all invoices went through his company so there’s not much receipt wise for that period but most MOT’s are present back to 1995. I am the seventh owner.

This is my third 944 and was destined to be a keeper – I have spent a four figure sum on the car servicing and renewing parts and can send a spreadsheet to potential buyers highlighting the work and expenditure. However, sadly for me personal circumstances force sale. I need to sell but am not desperate to so will not accept any silly offers – I believe I have priced the car fairly.

Everything works on this car and any inspection is welcome, but if you want to test drive please bring proof of comprehensive insurance. Sorry for the long winded listing but I just want to get over how good and original this car is. It is not concours but is a very tidy, early 944 Turbo in excellent order and wants for nothing. It also comes with a Porsche Certificate, Storm Force outdoor car cover and workshop manual.

Updated with a few more pics and updated bodywork text.

I've scoped the sills and the length of them are excellent and rust free, however when you look in the b-post on the near side there is a patch of surface rust at the bottom. It doesn't extend down the sill however.

More photos available if anyone desires of the inside of the sills as I have nothing to hide

Regards
Andy

Just a little 'bump!'

This is a straight car and ready to go. Open to sensible offers.

Hi Andy,

I see you're also a VW fan, so I wonder if you'd be interested in a p/x for my L/'93 VR6 Corrado?

Many Thanks!

Chris

Haha, i expect the price difference might have something to do with it to. If your turbo were a white one. I would be exactly what im after and id speak to the bank man about letting me have some pennys.

But as no one wants my bug at the moment its a non starter :(

That surprises me I would have thought your bug would sell pretty quickly?

So did I, but its still here. I may have to lower the price ever more. I've had 3 enquiries and 1 viewing in a month.

Have you had much better?

I've had two viewings. Both very positive and only complementary about my car, its come close to selling but sadly though it's just not been the 'one' for either of them.
