For sale is my 1983 Porsche 944. If you're looking for a concours car look away, if you want a good useable classic then read on.
This is an early model, no power steering or air con which is ideal - as little weight and as uncomplicated as possible.
MoT'd Until 1st April 2013 Taxed end December 2012
Mileage is on 40000, however its a 5 digit odometer. Old MOT's and the service book seem to add up so 140k is the actual number.
Good bits
Good brakes – front disc and pads replaced, callipers refurbished, front braided hoses fitted.
New thermostat and coolant flush
New KYB gas shocks fitted to the front
Rear wheel bearings replaced.
Always starts – crank position sensors checked and realigned.
Gearbox oil changed
Injectors stripped and cleaned
Injectors serviced and rebuilt.
Serviced with OE parts, fully synthetic oil.
Gauge oil pressure sender replaced.
Powder coated cookie cutter wheels with 4 good tyres
Single key for all locks. 3 keys included and 2 immobiliser fobs.
Seats generally OK with good fabric except for a couple of small (cigarette) burns to rear seat fabric, luckily in discrete places. Drivers seat fabric (inner seam) is starting to split away from the black outer but this looks like stitching so an easy fix.
Electrics all work
It's had welding in the past to common areas-sills and battery tray, These are solid as are the inner sills-a common problem with these cars.
New boot and bonnet struts so neither of these fall on your head when you open them...
All the electrics work bar the heated rear screen, I've only noticed this in the poorer weather and haven't had a look at this yet but they're pretty simple things so shouldn't be too hard to sort.
Bad bits
Boot carpet has a couple of stains – not that obvious.
Lumps in bodywork in several places – suspected rust bubbles.
Has an after market Dashboard top to cover up splits caused by the sun. A common 944 issue.
Rust evident on wheel arches and small rust bubbles on front of the bonnet near catch
Split in seam on front drivers wing where it meets the front valence.
Some wobble through the steering wheel at certain speeds-I'm pretty sure the wheel bearing needs adjusted on the front, an easy job.
Ugly but functional repir to the battery tray by previous owner but not generally noticeable.
You will need to come and view the car – it is nothing like concours but I’ve had a lot of fun with it.
It drives really well for one of these at this price. Any inspection welcome, come and have a look and wave some cash under my nose. I looked at a good few before I bought this one, if you find a better one at this price then buy it!
£1300 ono
