Very, very nice. I’ve always wondered how one of these feels in comparison to a 944 Turbo. Less power, but less weight …

The Porsche 924 was a design commission undertaken by Porsche for VW/Audi that was abandoned by the client and sold back to Porsche late in development, with Audi agreeing to build the car at its Neckarsulm plant. The 924 was a success and brought in much needed cash after the company hit trouble following the 1970s oil crisis. About 125,000 924s and 14,000 924 Turbo's (officially designated Porsche 931) were sold between 1976 and 1985. In 1979 Porsche submitted a styling exercise to the Frankfurt Motor Show to introduce ideas that shaped the look of the forthcoming 944. The following year, the company entered the 924 at Le Mans, and needed to homologate a race car to meet Group 4 racing regulations (although the racers were eventually entered in the GTP class). The homologation version was called the 924 Carrera GT and was a developed 924 Turbo incorporating wider front and rear wings similar to those seen on the well-received styling exercise. Porsche made 406 924 Carrera GTs in 1981, including six prototypes. Lefthand drive cars are designated type 937, righthand drive are 938 (75 made). The 924 GT makes 210bhp from a developed 924 Turbo engine, weighs 1,180 kilos, has 49/51 weight distribution, handles well, is reliable, has racing pedigree, and is one of the cheapest Porsches to maintain.

On offer is a very rare 1981 Porsche 924 Carrera GT, one of only seventy five righthand drive cars that were built for the United Kingdom market. Finished in black with the correct black, lined in red cloth interior, this car is described by the vendor as in immaculate condition throughout and is supplied with a compressive service history, the original bill of sale, a V5 registration document and an MoT test certificate which expires in September 2012. This is a unique opportunity to purchase a very rare, completely original Carrera GT.

This was mine!
Owned it on 3 seperate occasions and although still my favourite Porsche,it never ran with the same amount of punch it promised with that fantastic look.
Tom Ferguson tried to get it singing as it should on numerous lenghthy visits to his workshop, and if he cant remedy it no one can.
Also I can confirm for certain that SLD 933W is certainly not all original:she has been fitted with adjustable boost,a non original front wheel and probably most importantly in an act of gross stupidity I shattered the thinner glassed rear hatch clearing the rain channel in the spoiler with a screwdriver and hammer!!
I still cringe at the thought of that moment.
Every time I sold her the price was 10k and I purchased her 3 times for 10k,twice from the same Newcastle solicitor! On the rare occasions she was running without popping her various pipes off and producing nowhere near her quoted 210bhp,I her with max committment and attack on various tracks but I have to admit that the most excitement was had 'raking' her around the 2lane backroads between Lobley Hill and Stanley.
Happy days indeed.

After a close look I would say no it isnt.
SLD 933W had a central armrest and no aircon.
Thank god,I would have cried. That is a ridiculous price!
