For those that haven't been before http://www.necclassicmotorshow.com/index.php the short video says it all.

Central Region put on a fantastic display every year. Don't forget that Club Members receive a discount of £5 a ticket, details in the last and next issue of All Torque.

All the details are now finalised and I think we can safely say the quality of the display cars will be very high - we've got some good uns! :D

Please come along and say hello if you visit the show

See you there

Paul

Its a great show :D
I actually think that the access to the MPH also gives it a much wider appeal

Will try to be there if I can get a lift?
There are a bunch of lads I think will want to go but to cram 4 adults in the 928 is a bugger.
I wonder if there is a market for my MPH 319 number plate there?

Stephen

Just got back in from the show.

Stand was a credit to all those involved again :D

Shame we weren't allowed into the MPH show as it was over capacity and so only MPH ticket holders were allowed in :(

Took 5 hours to get home as the M1 Northbound has been closed for ost of the day.

Stand was great guys. Good effort, the Arena Red 911 was fantastic, will upload pics later. G

Got back at 18:50 had a pretty good run back. One laugh was as the shuttle bus drove back to the car park, some dozy bint in a Corsa came the wrong way down the dual carriageway from the M42 & into the NEC facing on coming traffic. Luckily the bus driver saw her & stopped. Also there was no oncoming traffic so she got away with it

My thoughts on show overall? We had a TIPEC Committee meet so that was the reason I went, first time I've been to the Classic at NEC & wouldn't have gone otherwise.
Classics OK, nothing mindblowing, seen similar unusual stuff at Bromley. Long way from Kent 330mile round trip & the weather going there was vile. Bloody expensive, full price ticket on the door is 18quid with a rip off 8 quid parking.
Pre-booked the entry was 12quid with a pound booking fee.
Will I be going back, no.

Yes the NEC can be bloody expensive.
Its better if you are on the stand all weekend as it breaks up the travelling.

Before I was chair the club had ceased to do the NEC shows. When I became chair we started again. The first couple of times all the cars were from NE region, all the stand staff were NE region apart from one (Gary) who was a Scottish RO.
We used all NE regions gear plus some additional bits (like a fence made of posts and refurbished 928 slots, and encapsulated magazines on 'prayer stands' that the secretary, Alan Wells and myself made. We also had a double sided banner hung between two flag poles (which pissed off the Ferrari club as we backed onto them and our banner could be seen from the far side of the hall). One of our cars was the very first 924 to win the 924 racing series in red, white and blue. It was lovely apart from the large hole in its wing so I draped a Union flag over wing and held it in place with a full face helmet that I used for drag racing.

Stephen

Hi Stephen, I don't suppose you've got any old pictures of those days you could scan in?

Hi Jim

Those were the very early days of digital cameras but I'll search and see what I can find.
