Sorry to hear about your car Paul, but congrats on what was obviously a great day out for everyone.
I was over in Wellingborough at the Dyno on Saturday morning with my 911, and things ran on well into the afternoon and time just ran out to get across to Brunts.

Can't really tell from the photo except that you're p****d off. Mechanical breakdown or is that some creasing on the nose or just reflections?

It was just bad luck. I was planning to take the '44 to Brunty and had a lot of work done on the car last Tuesday in readiness:

Cam and balancing belt
Tensioner gear
Front brake disks
Red EBC pads all round
Brake fluid replaced with ATE Super Blue
Braided brake hoses
Swapped wheels & tyres for track day set

Sorted and ready until thursday evening when I hit a pothole the size of a quarry and broke the front anti roll bar. That ruled the '44 out so I charged the battery on the 928 (after a few weeks of inactivity) and figured I would just be gentle around the circuit.
Drove fine down to the circuit and just as I was pulling out onto the track the engine died - identical to the last time this happened some weeks ago.
Spent an hour messing with the MAF seating to no avail so I had to call the AA - much to everyone's amusement

Bad luck with the cars but a great day out :D

Dreadful combination of bad luck Paul, but at least no drastic damage to S2 and the 944 will be in great shape once anti roll bar replaced.

Have you traced the problem to fuel or ignition? Maybe crank sensor?

Don't think its the crank sensor as the car starts no problem and ticks over ok until the throttle is pressed - then you can hear it suck air as it stalls

I've ordered a new 'O' ring for the seat of the MAF for starters - if that doesn't cure it I'll have to start a full scale "Sherlock" investigation. Derrick (Zola1) has suggested a fuel pressure problem which is possible - I just hope he's wrong and its a simple 'O' ring fix :D

944 now collected from Porscheshop - feels great but 48 hours too late :banghead:

Some photos from the day:

Let me know if they are not visible - I'm not sure that I set the flickr permissions correctly.

Video to follow later - YouTube has rejected my first effort as being too long, so more editing required.

OK I think that it worked. The video should be at:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T82DnRXqOkQ

Special thanks to Derrick for setting the camera up and apologies for the quality but YouTube rejected my earlier (higher quality) effort as being too big :(

(Now I really must get some work done today :) )

Thanks, it's just a shame that there weren't more of those funny rear-engined jobbies to overtake

That was an absolutely brilliant day out. Thanks to everyone involved in organising it.

By the end of the day I actually managed to overtake someone (who wasn’t even on a ‘cool down’ lap!)

It must have been good - I worked out that I averaged 7.3 mpg on the track

Nice. Including our drive down from Glasgow and back (the long way around, over a couple of days) I managed to get through a full five litres of oil. Most of that being at the track on Saturday …
