So, err, what happened to the joint tipec/Marcos event? I didn't see anything that looked like a Marcos all day! Maybe they'd come incognito in MX5's.

Indeed, MX5 and Caterham type things and a couple of Hondas were the only other things on track.

I'm a bit of an MX5 fan so I'm not knocking them!

We know the guys that head up the Marcos Club. Which is why we invited them and they agreed to promote it, clearly this did not pan out as we had hoped. We are trying to make these days happen but it's like pulling teeth and I am not sure what we do next

Watch this space, suggestions welcome

Perhaps TIPEC could select a BookaTrack event and promote it to the club members.

No interest then no problem. :-)

Just want to agree with everyone.

As a novice to track days I had a fantastic day, and it was well worth the five hour trip to the track.

It was great to meet all, and had an absolutely great time, I cannot recommend this day enough.

Thanks for organising the event, and lets hope we can get support to do another.

Gary

If I can enjoy a trackday in my diesel saloon then I'm sure a sportscar owner would have a great time, we were all like kids in a sweet shop up there :D

I'm sure it's a case of apathy really, most would love it if they managed to make the effort.

Mind you, I did get a good telling off from Kerry for wearing out my brakes and front tyres and smashing Jimmy around the car

I am sure apathy is part of the problem, people do like stuff on their own door step. I think that worry is a bigger problem, the fear of not being quick enough and of pranging the car.

A few of us went to the Sprint Racing at Crystal Palace yesterday and a guy was flying around in his van.

Last one, the main edit (thanks to Nick Beaumont for the photo):

You can click Youtube link under the video and choose up to 1080p quality in the settings menu bottom right of the video if your broadband is up to it!

I suspect the date might have been a problem for some. Many people like to do "family" things on a bank holiday weekend. Taking the Saturday out of the long weekend for Dad to go "track-daying" would interfere with plans for a family break.

The date was great for me. Took Friday off, cut the grass, kicked the car tyres, loaded up the wife and convoyed across country with a fellow tipec member. Top night out on Friday, trackday on Saturday and still had Sunday and Monday for other stuff. Perfect!

Indeed. It was fine for me too. One can safely assume it was OK for all those who went. The issue is why it wasn't "fine" for those who didn't go...

I went up in the morning, took two hours from Buckinghamshire without going silly, all motorway/dual carriageway until the last 10 miles on a delightful, traffic free B road. Worth it for that alone, not a big effort.
